Grocery Haul - Weeks October 8th to 22nd

Right, well it's been quite a while since my last grocery haul, I think it was actually back in February before my family moved in with us.  Much as I wanted to continue doing them, it just wasn't possible, so I had to put it on hold for a few months.

I decided that I was ready to start back up, mainly due to the fact that as of last week Friday, my husband is unemployed after being laid off.  This means that I have to tighten the purse strings, make do with what is on hand, feed my family of four with a limited budget and so on, and so forth.

Honestly don't know what is to come, or what is in our future, and it's probably the best time to get back to blogging with some frequency and having a way to document this moment in our lives and how we are going to get through it.

But, let's move on to our grocery for the next 2 weeks......

Grocery Haul October 6

My husband picked the pizzas, so he got a Screamin' Sicilian and a Pepperoni from Digiorno.  I like to keep them in the freezer for a quick lunch, or even dinner.

Grocery Haul October 6

Some breakfast sausages, I plan on making breakfast for dinner one night, so these along with biscuits and gravy will do.

Grocery Haul October 6

This Smithfield bacon was on sale for just $2.  We love bacon but I don't buy it much anymore because the prices are ridiculous.  I picked up two packages.

Grocery Haul October 6

I got 2 of the Pork Roasts.  My daughter's boyfriend will be here on Monday and so I'll be making a roast.  They are quite small so I always need 2, and whatever is leftover I like to either make Croquettes, Rissois or even use it for sandwiches for the next day's lunch.

Grocery Haul October 6

Picked up one pack of this thin sliced steak to make a Philly Cheesesteak Ring.  Recipe will be up on the food blog on the day I make it.

Grocery Haul October 6

This is the only thing my husband requested, he really wanted a few steaks and I felt that I had to oblige, he certainly deserves it :)

Grocery Haul October 6

Ground beef was on sale, look at that price.  So even though I only needed one pound for this menu plan, I picked up 6 which will already go for next meal plan.

Grocery Haul October 6

Picked up some chicken tenderloins, they are usually around $3 at the commissary which I find quite cheap.  Also a package of drumsticks and one of thighs.

Grocery Haul October 6

Two packages of chicken nuggets for the kids, they like these for a quick lunch, I also use them sometimes to make a salad for me.  One pack of the Ham and Salami Sub Kit.  Two packages of burritos, my husband and son love these for lunches.

2 boxes of pizza rolls, these are 99c each.  One Jimmy Dean hot sausage for Zuppa Toscana, and 2 beef smoked sausages.

Grocery Haul October 6

Sweet Cream Creamer, Half and Half, a big tub of yogurt for me, 4 pack of the blueberry for my husband, shredded sharp cheddar cheese, cream cheese, butter and a pack of pepperoni.

Grocery Haul October 6

Grocery Haul October 6

Roma tomatoes, red onion, green pepper, avocado and a lime.

Grocery Haul October 6

Some Kale for the Zuppa Toscana.

Grocery Haul October 6

Now I usually get the nicer lettuce, but folks, Iceberg will do.  I know a lot don't like it and say it's gross and etc, but when money is tight you get what you can.  These are super cheap, only 70c each so I got 2.

Grocery Haul October 6

Seedless grapes, these were only a dollar.

Grocery Haul October 6

Hubby picked up a few of these ravioli for him and the kids for lunches.

Grocery Haul October 6

I also picked up 2 cans of corn to make corn salsa for my Chipotle Burrito Bowls.  A can of diced tomatoes, a small can of Adobo Sauce for the burrito bowls, and then hubby got a can of Spam.  He loves this stuff and I never buy it.

Grocery Haul October 6

I have ribs in my freezer that I got last grocery shopping I did, they were on sale so I picked them up.  I asked hubby to pick a rub for the ribs and this is the one he chose.

Grocery Haul October 6

Dr. Pepper was on sale for 99c, picked up 2.

Grocery Haul October 6

French Bread to make pizzas, we enjoy french bread pizza.  I picked up 4 artisan type bread rolls, mostly for me, I like them toasted for breakfast or as a sandwich for lunch.

Grocery Haul October 6

Nacho Cheese Doritos, Cheetos, Kettle Chips (my fave), one bag of the Cape Cod brand and then these others were on sale and are limited edition which is the Medley with 3 different potatoes.  Figured I would try those.  And one bag of Tostitos tortilla chips for some nachos.

Grocery Haul October 6

2 packs of spaghetti, and one of rigatoni, they're 69 cents each.

Grocery Haul October 6

Sweet n low for our coffee.

Grocery Haul October 6

I didn't need much in the cleaning department, only some floor cleaner.  I also picked up this cheapy little bottle of lotion to keep in my purse because my hands get really dry.

Grocery Haul October 6

10 lbs of potatoes, we go through potatoes a lot and I always find that they're good to have, whether for side dishes, or sometimes even for lunch as a baked potato.  These were just a little over 2 dollars.

Grocery Haul October 6

Toilet paper

Grocery Haul October 6

And that was it, the total came to $181.47, so I'm well under budget which makes me happy.

Oh I did go to Aldi the day before and picked up 2 gallons of milk which are super cheap, only a little over a dollar.  Milk lasts us a long time, and if I find some on sale, I grab it and freeze it.

Here is the menu plan for the next two weeks, I will add links to any recipe that I already have on my blog, and any others that I don't have up yet, I will add to the food blog.

Love this! I always get ideas and it's helpful to see how others do it compared to me. We average about 250.00 every two weeks for a family of 5.

Please post your opinion of the Screamin Sicilian pizza, Sandra. I've seen those pizzas in the grocery for a year but haven't tried them yet.

You did very well on your grocery haul. I got Johnsonville sweet italian sausage the other day for a little over two dollars a package. Yep, I bought them all! It is the only kind of italian sausage my tummy tolerates. Is the breakfast sausage good?

OH! I follow a few women on You Tube who do grocery hauls but I don't think I've seen one in a blog-I love it! I am also on a tight budget, Since I stopped working But ya know God Always provides! Sometimes ok Every time I am amazed but we always have what we need and then some! I am able to feed our family of 4 on $150 every 2 weeks. and that's without tons of coupons. I couldn't do it without 1.GOd/Faith 2.Meal Planning and 3. My Crock Pot. Don't meals taste so much better when all that love goes into each and everyone of them. You asked what we would like you to blog about. Of course I Love your HHM but also this kind of everyday life stuff. Thank you for sharing.
