Last night we went to Jasmine's first Band Concert at the school, she was nervous but so excited to be there and get to play and I love seeing that portrayed in her eyes.
We are so proud of her, playing the Clarinet seems to be something she is truly enjoying.
Daddy and son playing a little Rock Paper Scissors while waiting for the concert to being.
Here's our girl, she said she was really nervous but I can't tell at all, can you?
Taking a little breather LOL
This one just cracks me up LOL
And there she goes.....and it was also at this point that I was faced with the dreaded "you're embarrassing me" moment.
I truly didn't think I would be dealing with it for a few more years, but I guess being 10 years old and having your mom there taking pictures and waving is something to frown upon.
I tell you being a mom is tough, actually I'm sure I don't have to tell you mothers out there who have teenagers right now or already went through it, but no matter how much you hear that this is normal and it's just hormones and all kids go through that phase.........when it first hits you, it's heartbreaking and I admit to shedding a tear or two on the way home.
Good thing is that we had a really long talk and I laid down some rules and said some things that she needed to hear as a 10 year old, she didn't like it all BUT that's life.
Oh boy, I'm just not ready for any of this tween/teenager stuff, really not ready for it at all.
Apparently I'm now in the "not cool" club. Being seen with mommy is a big NO NO. *hold me* LOL

Happy Homemaker Monday!
The weather in my neck of the woods:
Raining....I'm SO happy that it's raining.
One of my simple pleasures:
Reading, by far one of my favorite things to do.
On my bedside table:
The Complete Novels of Jane Austen
On my TV:
Stargate SG1 Season 4
Merlin Season 2
On the menu for tonight:
Sweet and Spicy Bacon chicken
On my To Do List:
Mop and sweep
Laundry
New Recipe I tried last week:
Nothing new, have a few to try this week.
Granny Square blanket
Looking forward to:
Breakfast out with friends. One of our friends is leaving for England at the end of the month so we've been trying to get as much fun in as we can.
Homemaking Tip for this week:
Try cutting your potatoes in half before baking them. Then rub them with shortening, put the cut side down, sprinkle with coarse salt and bake them at 350 degrees for an hour or so. They get a nicely browned crust on the underside and the insides are nice and soft.
Favorite Blog Post of the week (mine or other):
Haven't had time to read blogs this past week.
Favorite photo from last week:
Lesson learned the past few days:
To treasure every day and every second you have with friends, make every minute count.
On my Prayer List:
Family and Friends
Devotionals, Scripture Reading, Key Verses:
"Ah, Sovereign LORD, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you."
Jeremiah 32:17

Handmade Holidays!
It's that time of the year, we're scrounging around for the perfect Christmas present and if you're anything like me, you want it to be something just right. What is better than a handmade gift? Something that you put your heart and effort into?
With that in mind, I decided that the next few weeks before Christmas, I'll be posting about easy and inexpensive holiday gifts that you can sew, crochet, knit or make right in your own kitchen.

The idea is to keep it simple, there's no need to go completely overboard.
For the kids teachers, I'm doing both a Lemon Drizzle Loaf and some Snickerdoodles.
I'm also including Single Serving Pies in a Jar. I've been wanting to try these for a while and I think this is the perfect opportunity.
You need half-pint jars and I find those at my base commissary but if you can't locate them at a store near you, here's a link to where you can get them at Amazon, they're pretty inexpensive.
Our Best Bites has the perfect recipe, go on over and take a look.
Try to keep in mind any food allergies or dislikes for the gift recipient.
Why not try putting a few pieces of Espresso Chocolate Chip Shortbread in a large coffee mug and wrap it in cellophane?
These are just a few ideas, I am using them for the teachers, friends and family.

Oh boy, not much time left!

I keep looking at the calendar and hoping that by some miracle it will just stop or rewind or something, anything, to make the time slow down.
Do you realize we have but 20 days until Christmas???? That's it.....not much time at all and I for one have not bought one single present. For shame!
I'm more of a *under pressure buy everything Christmas Eve* kinda gal, what can I say, I love it.
How are you doing on the shopping front? Do you have everything bought and wrapped and ready to go? Are you just doing Homemade gifts this year?
Speaking of Homemade gifts I always do them, but I'm drawing a completely blank and I need all the help I can get, so could my wonderful, crafty, inspiring readers throw me a life line? Give me some ideas on gifts for hubby and kids, keeping in mind that I have a girl who is 10 and a boy who is 6 years old.
Now that I got that paranoia out of my system *snicker* I can tell you that it's only 37 degrees here today and I'm in pure bliss. You can stop laughing because I'm sure most of you deal with these cool temps year long but for us folks melting in the desert when it dips below 60 degrees it's considered a good winter LOLIt's cloudy and rainy and cold and I'm sipping on some hot coffee with Creme Brulee Coffee Creamer. Goodness, have you tried this flavored creamer? I'm usually more of a milk gal but I tried it for the first time about two weeks ago and now I can't do without, it's so delish.
My day is going to be spent pottering around the house, laundry and dishes and cleaning and crocheting, watching movies, eating popcorn and planning, lots of planning for Christmas.
Lists and Gift ideas and Menus and all that good stuff.
I best hop on out of here and get started. I do hope you're enjoying your weekend and for those with snow, I envy you at the moment, I would give anything for some beautiful white snowflakes drifting down from the skies, but I'll settle for made up snowstorms and warm comfy blankies.
