A day in the life and some recipes for you all

Hi everyone, come on in and sit with me, let me show you a bit of my day.

I had yet another home day which I'm really, and I mean reallllyyy loving.  It's been so relaxing to not have to rush out the door or be watching the clock constantly.  What it's done is help me reset, so to speak and recharge my batteries.

I've been obsessed with oatmeal and it's pretty much my go to breakfast for the past couple of months.  I haven't been eating as much bread as I used to, so not really having toast or sandwiches, but rather gravitating towards the oatmeal.

I don't know what it is about it, but I find it so delicious and filling.  I make mine the exact same way, every morning.  I add dates, chopped walnuts, cinnamon and either sugar or sweet n low, cook it up, then drizzle on some milk to make it creamier.  It's AMAZING!!!

While I ate breakfast, I pulled out a notepad and did a quick check of the pantry, cupboards, fridge and freezer, and jotted down what I needed.

I totally just had a chuckle at my "Nuts for oatmeal".  Hahahah

Oh Sandra!!!

Laundry is a never ending chore so I tackle it in between breakfast or doing dishes and other chores.  I find it easier to get a load washing and another drying or hung out on the line, while I go and move on with my day.  I eventually make my way back around to the laundry area and toss in another, fold and so on.

Don't you just love this mug?  It helps me to remember to always thank God for everything in my life, no matter what.

When our family was over for the 4th of July, Curt's cousin brought over this writing desk that she no longer wanted.  I was thrilled to take it from her hands and make it mine.  I have wanted a pretty writing desk for many, many years and they can be quite pricey.

However, she is getting rid of some items in her home and I immediately jumped on it.  I have spent the past few days moving things around in my bedroom so that I could make room for it.

Now, most people would probably place the desk elsewhere, and as big as this house is, you would think that I could find a spot to place it, but I haven't and I kinda want to keep it near me anyway, so my bedroom it is.

At the moment, my bedroom is a bit of a mismatch, and you have no idea how it's driving me insane, I can not wait to get some paint on these walls, some new side tables, pretty curtains, a bench for the foot of the bed and so on.  But, as much as I want all these things, we have other commitments that require our money being spent elsewhere, so all of these ideas for the room are just going to have to stay as "ideas" for now, until such time that I can start making the changes.

I also managed to set up my sewing machine where it's easily accessible, and that means I can quickly pop on and do some sewing without having to find the machine, find a spot, plug it in and then put it all away again.  It's a little annoying and doesn't make me want to be creative or do anything when I know the hassle it will be just to get started.

So, it's up, ready and I think tomorrow I might pull out my current sewing projects and get going with them.  I still have a quilt I have to finish.

The rest of my day was spent on computer work, again.  I've tweaked the template here and there, added some coding, made a new pretty banner, removed the background, played around a bit with color and links and so on.

It's one of those things that is imperative to a pleasant blog for the readers, but it's not always fun to do and you definitely need to have time to sit and work on it without interruptions.

While I was doing that, I gave the food blog a quick upgrade too and even posted 3 new recipes for you all.

I also have another recipe to add to the blog tomorrow, which is what we had for dinner tonight.  It is one that I adapted from my Taste of Home cookbooks and oh my goodness, it was delicious.  So if you like casseroles, this one must go on your list.

Chicken Tater Tot Casserole (think of chicken pot pie but topped with tater tots)

I have yet to work on my meal plan, I've tried to for the past two days but keep getting distracted with other things.  I do have it at my side at the moment, and I think I may try to work on it as soon as this post is up.  If not then for sure tomorrow.

Well ladies, I am going to head on out, I'm sorry this is such a short post, but as I've explained before my days of homemaking are pretty much the same day in and day out, and that is what you get on here, just a glimpse of what I'm doing, no matter how boring it may seem.

Hope you're all having a wonderful week so far.

Thanks for sharing the hummus dip recipe! I'm going to a friend's house this weekend for a little get-together, and one of the gals is vegetarian so this will be the perfect dish to bring!

Hi Mary Ann, the mug was actually a gift from a family member, so I'm afraid I can't say where it was bought. :) Thank you for reading my blog and enjoying it, it means a lot :)
