{ Happy Homemaker Monday - 03/23/2020 }

Good morning friends, how are you all doing?

We are living in some strange times aren't we?  I do hope you are all keeping the faith and staying focused through this pandemic.

Today marks the first day of our quarantine.  The kids and I will be home for 2 weeks, not going anywhere or being around anyone.  My husband however is still at work, military and anyone working with the military, are considered essential and therefore not shutting down unless absolutely necessary.

I'm not sure what the week ahead has in store, we plan on taking it easy at home.  I for one am fine with being indoors but that is because I'm a homebody to begin with.

Aside from that, we are all doing well.  I am dealing with some women issues again, I'm not sure what is going on, but could use some prayers.  I'll also be making a call to my gyn this morning just to be sure that this is normal, or if I need to come in.

Anyway, I am sending you all much love, keeping you in my prayers and wishing you all an abundance of blessings.

Let's get on with our Happy Homemaker Monday.

♥♥The Weather♥♥
Woke up to fog.  This past weekend the temperatures dipped down and it was quite chilly.  However, we are pretty much done with that nonsense, and moving into warm temperatures this week.  It looks like we are done with the cold.  Yay!

Monday - AM fog, PM clouds, 71
Tuesday - Sunny, 77
Wednesday - Partly cloudy, 84
Thursday - Mostly sunny, 87
Friday - Mostly cloudy, 83
Saturday -  Partly cloudy, 64
Sunday - Mostly Sunny, 69

♥♥How I am feeling this morning♥♥
Bit crampy.  I think my continuous patch is not working properly, matter of fact I know it isn't.  This may be too much information, but we are all women here and maybe one of you has been dealing with the same, or has dealt with it in the past.

I had a patch that I placed on my stomach/thigh area (stupidly because I knew already that for some reason it doesn't work for me in that area), and that threw my body off a bit.  Then the next patch didn't stay on properly.  Then the following patch got stuck on my bra strap and peeled off halfway.  I know that I should replace the patch but I didn't.

Long story short.  The continuous patches have meant that I get a cycle one month, then not the next, then get another one the following month etc.

I didn't get one last month, and of course got one this month but I am now starting day 10 and still on it, still crampy, and still very annoyed with it all.  Deep down I KNOW it is because the patch has not been working the correct way, but I still feel a little worried because this is not normal for me at all.  So, calling the doctor here shortly and we will go from there.  How am I feeling this morning?

Crampy, little anxious and lots annoyed with what is happening.

♥♥On my mind♥♥
Everything that is going on with Coronavirus.   There is so much happening, so many people in fear.  I think in a way I am thankful that we are not going through this alone, the whole world is together, but I truly pray that we can go back to our normal lives soon.

♥♥On the breakfast plate♥♥
Just my coffee, and I'll have Cream of Wheat later for breakfast, which should be around 8am.

♥♥On my reading pile♥♥
Finished Light Changes Everything from Nancy E. Turner and am close to finishing The Spanish Queen by Carolly Erickson.

♥♥On my tv♥♥
Just youtube vlogs, haven't had much time to watch anything yet.  However, with our quarantine starting, I will probably make a list of shows to catch up on.

♥♥On the menu this week♥♥
My grocery shopping this week was quite traumatic.  I was not prepared to find a base commissary with so many empty shelves, to the point where I broke into tears on the way home.  The reality of what is happening around us is quite frightening.  However, after some running around by my husband on Friday afternoon, we were able to get what we needed, and I have managed to come up with a monthly meal plan.

The only thing we are still not able to find, is toilet paper.  Frustrating!

Monday - Pork tenderloin sandwiches, homemade fries
Tuesday - Fettucine Alfredo, Salad
Wednesday - Bangers and Mash, Collard Greens
Thursday -  Ajo Chicken Wings, Butter Rice
Friday - Beef enchiladas, Salad
Saturday -Chicago style hotdogs
Sunday - Cheese Tortellini, Garlic Bread

♥♥From the camera♥♥
During these quarantine days, I ask you to go back to the basics.  Bake that loaf of bread you've been meaning to bake for a while, work on a batch of cookies with your kids.  There is nothing like homemade food, nothing.

♥♥Looking around the house♥♥
It is quite dark due to the cloudy skies and dense fog outside.  The only sound is my tv playing in the background and my little heater in the corner of the bedroom.

The kids are still asleep, hubby has gone to work, and Marley is sleeping on the couch in the living room.

The house just needs a bit of tidying up, vacuuming and dusting, but other than that, it is good to go.

♥♥Chore I'm not looking forward to today, or this week♥♥
Bathrooms, specifically the toilets.  Not exactly my favorite thing to do but we get through it right?

♥♥To relax this week, I will♥♥
Not entirely sure, but I want to get some crochet done, I want to finish my book and start another, I want to bake a cake and some bread, get my seedlings in the ground, and not sure what else I will get to.

♥♥On my prayer list♥♥
* The President, our country.
* The world.  We are still very much in the throes of this pandemic and people need hope, people need prayer.  Let's pray not just for our own family and friends, but for everyone around the world.

♥♥Devotional/Bible Verse♥♥
Yesterday's church sermon was fantastic.  It had me in tears throughout.  Churches are closed, but you can still attend online, it's just a matter of finding your church or another that you enjoy, and taking that hour each Sunday to devote to God.  We need it especially right now.

I took so many great things away from yesterday's teaching, and I wanted to pass them on to you, maybe it will give you some hope, maybe it will lessen your fears and help you get through these difficult times.

The very first thing that needs to be front and center in our minds is.......Faith through Fear.

Faith through Fear.  Remember that, repeat it, embrace it.

Not isolation, consecration.
When we go through something difficult, the goal is for God to show us something in it.
Stop wasting today's strength fighting tomorrow's battle.

This is definitely a time to stop, think and turn to God.

  1. The family has been begging for cookies, but I'm not running out of work to do either. Maybe later this week I will. We don't eat a lot of bread anymore, but banana bread sounds good right now. Have a great week and stay healthy!

    1. We always have something to keep us busy too. We're homebodies though so it's not hard for us to be in our little corner lol Stay safe Kristina.

  2. We're not quite done with the chillier weather. It was BEAUTIFUL last week and this week we're returning to chilly wet rainy weather for a bit, but you know how that is here - could be this way into May. I'm like you, using my quaratinne time to catch up on home projects. Fortunately for me I'm such a homebody this is pretty easy for me. I PRAY that everyone is doing their part so that a handle can be gotten on this virus quickly! I also PRAY that this "isolation" is something that actually brings us all closer together with a better understanding of community. Have a good week my friend and take care of yourself.

    1. I'm so glad we are heading into warmer weather, I need to get my seedlings into the ground ASAP. I am homebody too so this is nothing for me, I love being in doors. Stay safe my friend.

  3. Hope your doctor eases your mind regarding your female issues and that you feel better. Thanks for the reminder to go through my cookbooks. I did make banana bread yesterday (made into muffins) that were quite the big hit. Praying for a wall of protection around us all and this virus to mysteriously disappear. Hope you have a wonderful week!

    1. I was able to talk to the nurse today, and she talked to the doctor. Everything is fine, this is just a process of perimenopause and something I have to ride out. She did give me some suggestions and I'll basically be resetting my body soon. It's kind of like my ovaries having their last big hurrah and overriding the birth control lol

  4. Get some answers from your doctor as quickly as possible. we started quarantine last week and everything is closing up. Doctor's appointment will only be by skype unless emergency. And it was to be 2 weeks without school... but now they added the full month of April... it will only get worse until it gets better. I've started doing homemade muffins and biscuits last week too.

    1. I did, I managed to speak to the Gyn nurse and she talked to the doctor and got back to me pretty quickly. They're also not making appointments right now, the newest appointment would have to be for April 21st. So I was glad to be able to be in touch with them via phone etc. We are off school until April 6th, our state testing has been cancelled too, but they're not sure if school will reopen or just shut down for the rest of the year. This is all so crazy.

  5. I am so very sorry that your not feeling well! I am praying you feel much better soon! I loved your pictures of the week! Your so right Faith over fear!!! Praying for you and your family during this time!

  6. We had beautiful weather last week, but now is has turned chilly and rainy. I'm hoping it warms up next week. The bread looks yummy. We've made a few things but we had to order some gluten free flours to bake some more. Have a relaxing week and hope you feel better.

  7. I'm sorry you had a hard time finding supplies. Here all items from grocery stores are limited to two items of any one kind, per family, per day. So for example, tinned fruit you could have one can of pears and one can of peaches. Or with tinned vegetables you could have one can carrots and one can corn. There is no flour, hasn't been any for weeks now. Flour, toilet paper, wet wipes, paper towel, sanitiser, all capped at one item per family per day. If you can find it to start with. They have brought in a dedicated hour each morning for those with pension cards, which is good. It is super scary worldwide right now. All of our borders are now closed, within my state you can't even travel to a neighbouring town. We only have 5 infections, all brought into our state, and no person to person infection but we are a very isolated state, with only 600 hospital beds in total to service about 244300 people, so we are taking extreme measures. Take care, stay safe, try to keep busy.

  8. HI Sweetie! Love keeping up with you on insta. Sorry I'm late posting this week. This world does feel upside down - but having the familiarity of your Monday posts helps tremendously. We're all not alone and in this together. I pray you feel better soon! And get answers that work. And that your tp hunt is successful! Lol 😉
Blessings to you and your family. Stay healthy. xoxo
