Day 44 - One sleep....maybe????

Well my hubby is in Arizona, and probably somewhere near Flagstaff, so I'm not sure if he's going to push through and come in tonight, or if he'll stop and get some rest and then come in tomorrow morning.

I would LOVE for him to be home tonight, but he's been driving all day long and I don't want him to push it. So we'll see :)



:::: Had a big thunderstorm last night, lots of thunder and lightning and some good rain. This morning we still had tons of clouds in the sky, only problem is that it made the weather very hot and very humid....blech.

:::: best way to watch TV? In laundry baskets of course.



:::: apparently it's comfy, but I'll have to take their word for it, for I fear if I sit in one of those, they'll need a crane to get me out LOL

Cooking Thursday - Cinnamon Roll Snails

Here we are, another Thursday, but this one is special for me, because my husband is heading home shortly.  It's been a long 6 weeks for us and even though we've done deployments/TDY's that were much longer, I guess the older I get the less I want him away LOL   And the longer things seem to be.

Anyway, he's heading home, so I'm praying for a safe drive back :)   Now, onto our Cooking Thursday and I'm actually going to share the recipe for those Cinnamon Roll Snails I showed you in one of my Day posts.
I think your kids, grandkids etc would get a kick out of these.

Cinnamon Roll Snails

Pillsbury Jumbo size cinnamon rolls
Toothpicks
Marshmallows
Food marker


Set the cinnamon rolls on a greased cookie sheet, or foil lined sheet as I have done.  Unroll the cinnamon roll a little to make the neck and head of the snail.

You can trim the tip to make it more rounded but I didn't do that.

Bake according to the package directions, which should be 350 degrees for 16 to 22 minutes until nice golden brown and top looks dry.

In the meantime, make the eyes using toothpicks, mini marshmallows (I didn't have mini ones so I just tore off little pieces and rolled them into a ball.  Draw a black dot with the food marker.

When the buns are done, remove from the heat.  Let cool a little, then slather on some icing on the shell.  Pop on the eyes and you can even do a little mouth if you wish.

Enjoy! My kids thought they were the cutest things on earth, and I have to agree. I think next time I'll make homemade tiny cinnamon rolls for little snails.

Day 43 - Just 2 sleeps

We are getting so very excited. It feels like it's been 600 weeks instead of 6 weeks and we're all ready to be reunited as a family.

Thankfully it's coming to an end.

:::: she is feeling SO much better, it just goes to show that all they need sometimes is some extra attention and for us to really get involved with them and let them know that we're there and that everything they think and feel, matters. But in a way, she's still my little girl, she still loves My Little Pony hahaha

Day 42 - Just 3 sleeps

:::: Day started with Jasmine baking some Cinnamon Swirl Bread



:::: she did such a fantastic job by herself, I stood by for any questions she had but didn't touch a single thing



:::: while the bread was rising we had lunch, some quick pizzas made out of hamburger buns. The joy of pizza, using anything as a base, from buns, to english muffins, to pita bread, whatever :)

:::: this recipe makes a big loaf, but Jasmine wanted two, so she cut the dough in half



:::: I have to tell you that it turned out SO good, way better than the my first ever Cinnamon Swirl Bread loaf. So proud of her :)

Day 41 - Just 4 sleeps

So glad my husband will be returning this week, I just can't bear anymore time away from him.


:::: morning started with a dear friend popping by to bring me flowers and chocolate, and hugs, from her and from another dear friend of mine.

:::: she's been bugging me forever to dye her hair black and I absolutely REFUSE to do it because she's got the most stunning red hair. But today I compromised and gave her just one small patch of black and it made her extremely happy
