{ Cooking Thursday }

 Yummy, easy dinner rolls.  I love using my bread machine and especially if I'm wanting some fresh bread for dinner but don't have time to be in the kitchen making the dough.

Give this recipe a try, I think you'll enjoy it :)

Bread Machine Yeast Rolls

Bread Machine Yeast Rolls
Source: Betty Crocker

1 cup water
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
1 egg
3 1/4 cups Gold Medal™ Better for Bread™ flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3 teaspoons bread machine or active dry yeast
Butter or margarine, melted, if desired

Measure carefully, placing all ingredients except melted butter in bread machine pan in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select Dough/Manual cycle. Do not use delay cycle.

Remove dough from pan, using lightly floured hands. Cover and let rest 10 minutes on lightly floured surface.
Grease large cookie sheet with shortening. Divide dough into 15 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball. Place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet. Cover and let rise in warm place 30 to 40 minutes or until double. (Dough is ready if indentation remains when touched.)

Heat oven to 375°F. Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Brush tops with melted butter. Serve warm, or cool on wire rack.

{ Bowling we go }

Bowling fun

I am a huge believer in doing fun activities with the kids, that don't break the bank.   If you look, you can always find something to do that is either free or very inexpensive, and the kids will love you for it.

We are trying to cram as much fun as we can into the last month of summer, before school starts up.

My niece and nephew come to my house twice a week, during the summer, and everyday day during the school year for homeschooling.

Bowling fun

Sometimes we stay home, just hang out, or swim in the pool...but there are days that we want to do something different.

Our local base bowling alley has a special all summer through, $1 for shoe rental and $1 per game.  I love it, it's cheap and it's a fun hour or two at the bowling alley.

Bowling fun

We eat before we go bowling, that way the only thing we really need to get there are fountain drinks for $1.50. Perfect!!

The best part for me is watching the kids having fun and seeing the crazy things that happen when you get 6 people together for bowling.

Bowling fun

We had one kid get his thumb stuck in a ball, one drop the ball behind as they went in to bowl, one trip and almost fall flat on his face and lots and lots of gutter balls.

Bowling fun

And lots and lots of laughs and tummy aches from laughing so hard.

Bowling fun

Cousin love which always warms my heart :)

Bowling fun

Just plain ol' fun, a good time spent out of the house and by the time we return home, everyone is pooped out and on the couches relaxing.

Bowling fun

My favorite way of passing an afternoon.  Friday night????  A big sleepover because the kids all want to play games together on their laptops.

I'm sure there will be pizza and soda and chips, staying up way past their bedtime and lots and lots of belly laughs.

Now I need to run out and take my daughter to Tae Kwon Do....running late....oops.

{ Color, Color and more Color }

I love color!

Pops of color show up through my house.  I tend to keep things kind of neutral but then bring in lots of color with accessories, and the fun part about that, is that I can change it up anytime I like.

I thought today I would show you pops of colors around my house.  I'm almost done with my kitchen and having everything just right, but I still have to give the yellow bench a second coat.

I'm not going for perfect either, I love the look of used, old furniture with notches here and there and bare spots too.

Nevertheless, come with me and let me show you what is around me.

_MG_5683

The most beautiful of blues, oh I love it so.....but I also am smitten with this minty green.

_MG_5685

This is the bench that is not quite yet done, it still requires a whole other coat, but my word, how beautiful is that bright yellow?

_MG_5686

And here is mama's chair, pink and pretty, and girly and me.

_MG_5688

When they are all done, I will take a photo of the chairs with the table, the white table itself is a work in progress, it is almost finished but not quite, still needs some coats here and there.

I can't tell you just how beautiful my kitchen is starting to look.  I finally have my table and chairs looking like I wanted them to, soft and pretty and so reminiscent of Cath Kidston, which is what I'm actually going for.

_MG_5701

This basket sits in the corner of the dining room and holds some of my tablecloths, placemats and crocheted goodies. I could never find enough room for all my stuff and today it finally clicked in my head.....all the baskets I have laying around, one in that corner would be just what I needed. Really liking it there.

_MG_5704

I am going for a soft looking kitchen and I think I'm getting there.

_MG_5692

Since we're on the subject of color, I wanted to show you what I'm finishing up today. This Hexagon Cushion is almost done, I am now just joining it all together and then tomorrow I need to run to Walmart and find a pillow insert.

_MG_5695

I kept the front and the back the same, crocheting two of each hexagon, but the placement is different from one to the other...the joining method is also different as you can see.  One side is raised, the other not.

Tonight I'm making half hexagons to fill in the edges and then plan on joining everything and leaving just one end open to insert the pillow, once done I will close it up and then do an edging all the way around.

It is so much fun to crochet with all these different colors.

Also wanted to quickly show you the book I received to review.  I've already flipped through it and it has some mighty delicious recipes.  I can't wait to make the Irish Soda Bread, the Shepherd's Pie, the Fruit Loaf and other yummy things.

Oh and speaking of yummy things, I posted the two recipes to my blog, the one for the Bread Machine yeast rolls and the Crockpot Beef Stroganoff.  Hope you enjoy :)

Alrighty, I have crochet waiting for me and a hot cup of green tea.

Good night friends :)

{ Rainy Monday }

Rain

Wonderful rain has been coming down today and I do love a rainy day.

Candles are lit, windows are slightly opened to enjoy the rainy aroma, and life seems to slow down.

Candlelight

It always seems to be a day for relaxing on the couch and either watching movies, or reading.

Rainy day relaxation

But that is all after the housework has been finished. It really is never ending, there are daily tasks that need to be done without fail and I choose to just get them done so that I can then enjoy the rest of my day.

Yummy breakfast....I'm a wheat toast and creamy homemade butter kinda gal.

Breakfast

Cath Kidston Surprise.....An interruption in breakfast to get the door, and this beauty was delivered.  I am so very happy, what a beautiful bag from Cath Kidston.  My husband surprised me with this gift, yes ladies, he is a keeper.

Cath Kidston Bag

Ironing.....again, me and the ironing.  I know some of you think I'm nuts, but I don't know, I just enjoy it and find it quite relaxing.

Ironing

Crockpot....dinner cooking away.  I love using my crockpot on rainy days, it gives me more time to sit down and not have to worry about dinner prep.

Crockpot Stroganoff

Pretty flowers.....another surprise from my husband.  He picked them up at Walmart the other day and thought that I would enjoy them.  He was right, I do like them, a lot.

Beautiful flowers

Oil Lamp.....I have this slight obsession with lamps and lanterns. If I could, I would have them all over my house.

Oil lamp

Relaxing and Crocheting.....an hour spent on the couch with my crochet hook in hand, working on a new cushion and enjoying the candle light.

Rainy day relaxation

Dinner....these delicious bread machine yeast rolls.  So many people shy away from fresh bread, but a  bread machine is your best friend when you want fresh yummy bread in a pinch.   (recipe will be up later)

Bread Machine Yeast Rolls

Paired with this comforting, filling crockpot beef stroganoff.  Will also have that recipe up later.

Now, for some TV viewing news....in case you didn't know it, The Mill Season 2 just started this weekend.

If you like Amish shows like I do, you may have watched Expecting Amish on the Lifetime Channel this past Saturday.  If you didn't, you can watch it online, and I do believe it will be shown again on the 26th of July.

I'm going to go enjoy the rest of the rainy day, and I think my husband and kids want to watch a movie, not sure which one.

Have a wonderful Monday night!!!

Homemaking Tip::::
We all buy appliances thinking that we are going to get a lot of use out them, and then they end up tucked in the back of a cabinet or in the pantry, even in the garage.  Go through them all, pull them out and decide what you will use and what you want.  Give away, or do a yard sale with the items you no longer want to keep, but for those that you do, make sure to pull them out at least every other week and rotate them in the kitchen.  I know I've given this tip before, but I thought I would remind you all again.
I usually pull out one of mine and use them for that week, whether it be the Bread Maker or my Rotisserie.

Visiting with Blog friends (blog you want to share, blog post that caught your eye)::::
One of my favorite blogs to visit, which can actually be found on my sidebar, is Bratte Bakka og grone lier.  It is not an English blog, but it doesn't matter to me because the photos are absolutely gorgeous and I just love to sit and visit for a few hours.  Give it a try, I am sure you will enjoy it just as much as I do.

Praying for::::
Our prayers were answered last week, we received the our rent deposit.  Obviously they didn't return the full amount and they also charged us to repair something which was broken when we moved into the house and they KNEW about it.  But you know, I'm just happy to have the deposit in my hand and never have to deal with those people again.
Our moving claims ALSO came in last week, so thankful for that too.
I don't have anyone or anything specific that I'm praying for this week, just health and happiness for my family and friends.

Bible Verse, Devotional that is resonating with me at the moment::::
