Summer List
Have you ever made a summer list with your kids?
I usually make one every year but never thought to share it with you all, but the kids and I have been hard at work today, thinking up ideas and making plans for the summer, so I took a pic to show you how easy it is to come up with one that you can hang in your kitchen and just check off as you do the activities.
In between list making, we also cleaned the house. I tell you there's nothing like having the kids help clean, dust, sweep etc. They learn to appreciate what you do and also realize what their negligence with toys and messes all over mean to mommy.
But it wouldn't have been such a great day without our afternoon snack, which is usually around 3pm and in the form of either fruit, yogurt or a sandwich OR on those extra special days.....something more extravagant like Monkey Bread. To me, it takes but a few minutes to throw it together and cook, but to the kids, it is this amazing dessert that makes them ooooh and ahhhhh. Oh I can't wait to see the memories they have of childhood when they are one day sitting with their own children and grandchildren.
I'm off to fix dinner, then I'm hoping to start working on a bunch of ideas to make Summer Simpler, as soon as I get them all together, I'll share them here and then I hope you too will share some, maybe we can help each other come up with ways to have a great summer without all the tv watching and video game playing.
Have a great night everyone.

A summer fun list is a great idea!
We don't make a list but that's a good idea. Not for this year - we have too much to do to get our house ready to sell, and our Tween homeschools year-round, but next year... !!
As to the monkey bread, it looks yummy. I'll have to search for a gluten-free recipe. Thanks.

So funny, I have the same recipe for Monkey Bread - well we call them Monkey Balls (we adults do anyway) I got the recipe from my ex's mother, I must admit they are absolutely delish! BUT can only eat so many.
I will have to try your list idea! Very cute!
I like your summer list. What a great idea!
What a cute list!! I love the ideas y'all have come up with, too! That's a neat way to keep track of things and make sure you accomplish all you want to do. I love that you're enjoying having your kids home all day during the summer. :)
Never did make a list but your's makes me want to spend the summer at your house.. it all sounds fun...
I'll take a cuppa of tea and some of that monkey bread too..
I am so going to do a list with my kids and make monkey bread too! Thanks for the inspiration! :)
Blessings!
Good idea! I need to make two lists like this: 1 of things to do while my son and I are "killing time" in the States while my daughter is at her father's house, and the other of things to do when we get back home. I like the idea of having it where we can mark things off as we do them - and also have it as a reminder when a certain young lady starts saying she's Boooooooooored. ;-)
What a fun and great idea! I love the list. And how to neat to see if you complete them all before summer ends!
The freezer jam is so easy! It's much easier than the traditional way! We had fun!
Hugs and Blessings,
Wonderful list Jasmine and Nicholas as well as Sandra!!! Sounds like a fun summer ,and the monkey bread looks so good.
What a great idea! Ooh I want to do one! Our summer holidays start in July so I'll try to remember to do this! Thanks Sandra! How many exclamation marks can I fit into one comment!! Lol!!!
Big hugs!
I just wish summer would arrive here lol!!! Have a grea time with your kids doing lots of fun things!!!!! Marie x
That Monkey Bread looks heavenly! Love the list idea...I'll have to do that with my kiddos!
Love your list- looks like you're going to have a great summer!
We love monkey bread here too- yum!
Please pinch me off a chunk of that & get the coffee going!!
That is a great list ! And a great idea. I've never done that with my kids but I think I need to this summer ! Course, we are just heading into winter so I'll have to remember in 6 months when summer finally gets to Australia !!
I am going to be your next and newest follower! I too make a summer fun list- and I love to cook- either in my crockpot, on the stove- or my personal fav- over an open fire..... Thanks for all of your ideas!
We are going to do this....tomorrow is Madison's last day. We have 2 VBS's back to back and Church camp and then we will get to the list. June is quite busy for us. I loved your list.....ghost towns esp....are there any drive in movies close to you? We do that alot.
Thanks for following my blog and commenting Sandra. :) You don't know how tickled I was to read that you guys are an AF family. Way to cool! I haven't met anyone yet who has not LOVED Golden Crown. We know Helen and her husband personally and every time we go there you can catch us with Helen doing catching up time. :) You will have to let me know when yall are coming back to Idaho. I would love to met you.
Your kids are too adorable! I love your daughters red hair! What a punkin'. I will surely be a follower of your blogs now. Love all the yummy recipes you share. They will be tried here. Is there anything better than monkey bread? no.
Have a great day dear! Hope to keep hearing from you. Tell Curt thanks for serving our country for us!

What fun to make a list. I don't take care of my great grand kids in the summer so we have Fun Friday and each week we do something or go somewhere with them and my teen grand daughter who visits from Virginia. It is always so relaxed and so much fun. Thanks for your list as it gives me some new ideas.

You're summer list is great! Sounds like a fun summer. We love monkey bread here at our house and after seeing your picture of it...I'm off to bake some. Have a wonderful day!
I've made monkey bread. It is yummy! I am going to put a list of summer fun ideas on my website. Great ideas!
Pam
oooo, I haven't made monkey bread in like, forever.
Good thing for a rainy day.
I LOVE monkey bread, but with just the two of us (me and a 19yo) I don't make it anymore.
The summer list is a very neat idea... where were you 15 years ago-- LOL!
One question... what is the "ele-fun game"? Maybe it's something new I can play with the grandkids.
A tip to make your summer simpler (and more memorable!):
Create an "Out of the House" tote bag for both of the children. (I'm sure you could muss a special tote bag out on the sewing machine pretty quickly with leftover fabric.
Include things that Mom cares about (like sunscreen, bug spray, a hat or sunglasses, maybe some baby wipes) and things the kids care about (like a book, a plastic bag with one piece of chaulk, a container of bubbles, coloring book and the fabulous crayon roll you made them *wink*!)
They can bring the bag where ever they go and always have access to the freetime activities that summer break brings.
This year we changed our list up a little and made it "100 things to do FREE" While we may not get to all 100 we wanted to have a variety to pick from. It was fun brainstorming as a family and coming up with something that interested everyone.
We made our list! http://www.lifeonthehayfarm.com
