It's been a long day......

Hi there, come on in and sit with me for a few minutes, I promise I won't take up too much of your time, I am kind of in a hurry because in 15 minutes the Ghost Adventures Live show begins.....7 hours long. Yippee!

But feel free to grab a donut, I just made those and they are DELISH.

I'm sitting here on my bed with my laptop on my lap and I just finished prettying up my blog, what do you think? Do you like it?

Can you believe we are the end of October and almost at the end of another year? Goodness it doesn't even seem true.

Everyone here is looking forward to Halloween tomorrow and the kids are super excited because daddy is going to be home to take them trick or treating, something that being military hasn't happened in at least 4 years.

The house is decorated, the pumpkins are carved and now all that is needed is to buy the candy to hand out. We all have costumes, yes my friends even me, I'm a witch, though I don't know how that came about since I'm the sweetest person you could ever find *snicker*

I also have to get groceries tomorrow morning, I should have gone today but my car is not running, again. I'm so frustrated with that vehicle and I'm hoping my wonderful husband can figure out what is wrong with it this weekend.

Later tomorrow I'll be back with more to chat about and some pictures too, I'm sure you're dying to see me in my outfit LOL

Until then I leave you with this image of the project I'll be working on tomorrow afternoon....tell me these are not the cutest crocheted birdies? The amazing Lucy at Attic 24 ROCKS!

Oooh my show is about to start and I still have to dry my hair, gotta run.

Are you watching scary shows too for Halloween or is that something you don't particularly like? How about telling me what you do for Halloween, your costume this year, or traditions?

We haven't celebrated Halloween for several years. We made the move from a Halloween celebration to a Harvest one but there was a always a little crossing over. There always seemed to be a dress-up event, either at school or Brownies, so we went along with that. We stopped trick or treating when Sophia was about seven or eight - it was a great conflict with our Christian faith and frankly, I'm just not convinced it's safe anymore. That being said, I missed it, because it was such a part of my childhood.

This year, for the first time in years, she was going to dress up, have a Halloween party at home and then go trick or treating with her girlfriends. Yes, I caved. We were also supposed to make an in-costume visit to a nursing home this morning with our 4-H group. However, Sophia also just went back to school yesterday after being out for three days and she was coughing again last night so chances are the whole thing will be cancelled and I know she's going to be very disappointed. I hope that she will come to understand that it's really more important to be healthy!

I always watch It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and I just found, through a secondhand dealer, the original Peanuts Cookbook (that I bought from a Scholastic Book Order in 1970 when I was in the fourth grade!) that has the recipe for Charlie Brown's Great Pumpkin Cookies. The commissary has been out of pumpkin for over a week (can you believe it? at this time of year?) so I'm hoping they will have some in today.

So, this is kind of a long-winded answer to tell you that our plans are kind of up in the air right now.

I hope Jasmine and Nicholas have a wonderful time with Curt. We had three Thanksgivings without Vic before he was finally able to join us. I love our military life but it can be so tough around the holidays sometimes.

Can't wait to see your photos!

I love Attic 24, and I'm hoping to do a few of those birdies too. Halloween isn't such a big deal here in the UK, though trick and treating has got more popular over the last ten years or so. My eldest DD is going to a sleepover - don't know what they are planning to do. I'm taking my middle DD to see a special Halloween showing of Twilight, and 3yo DD hasn't noticed Halloween yet, and I haven't been organised enough to do anything with or for her - maybe next year.

Those donuts looks sooooooooooo yummy!! I'm so into all things carbs right now!! YUM!!!!

The birdies are adorable too! VERY cute.

Halloween? Well, nothing this year. I'm just not organized enough - and my kids at ages 9 & 11 just don't care any more. We've often trick-or-treated - our family's rule being "non-scary" costumes - but as time has gone by my husband has more & more decided we, as CHristians, just don't need to participate. I'm kind of neutral on the topic since I know it can just be a "fun" holiday if you totally ignore any "evil" aspects of it. When we lived on post, I loved that trick-or-treating seemed so much safer - and there were soooooooo many kids out with their parents. Now I live in the middle-of-no-where, so Halloween is easier to ignore. I do buy CANDY though :) Especially when it's on sale AFTER Halloween! Enjoy your night! :)
