Happy Homemaker Monday - 07/08/2019

Good morning sweet friends, and welcome back to my blog.

First things first, you probably noticed that I ONCE again changed the template.  I wasn't planning to and it certainly wasn't my intention to even mess with it, but I noticed there were some issues with it that I just didn't seem to be able to fix, no matter how hard I tried.

Sometimes it's easier to keep things simple, so instead of wracking my brain trying to beat my head against a wall, I literally went with the Simple blog theme.  I'll leave it until such time that I can find something I like and can work with.

Anyway, let's get going with our week.  I am actually home ALL.WEEK.LONG.  My daughter is off this week and I can't tell you how happy I am to know that I don't have to go anywhere.  For a homebody, it is the best news ever Hahah

Right, let's get going with our Happy Homemaker Monday, and see what we all have planned for the week.

The weather:::
It's been incredibly hot around here, but last night we had a huge storm come through and it's cooled things down tremendously.  I don't think there are any other storms in sight for the rest of the week though, so we better hunker down and get ready for that hot humid air to slam us in the face again.

Monday - Partly cloudy, 94
Tuesday - Partly cloudy, 101
Wednesday - Mostly sunny, 101
Thursday - Mostly sunny, 97
Friday - Sunny, 98

On the breakfast plate this morning:::
I've been on the intermittent fast now for 4 days, so far I haven't seen any kind of results, but I'm sure it does take it's time.  I thought I would be struggling more than I am, but surprisingly I'm doing quite well.  It did take a bit of getting used to, because I always ate my breakfast early in the morning, and now I don't eat until around 10am.  I'm doing the 16:8, so I stopped eating at 6pm and then don't eat again until 10am.  Sooooo, all that to say that I currently have nothing on the breakfast plate, but when I do it will either be oatmeal or some toast.

Right now I am:::
Typing up this post, while watching Youtube videos.

On my bedside table:::
Phone, bottle of water and TV and Firestick remotes.

On my reading pile:::
The Summer of Sunshine and Margot by Susan Mallery

Movies or Shows I watched this weekend:::
I've been watching documentaries, as always.   Watched a pretty interesting but sad one about a shooting in Australia back in the early 90's.  It took place in Port Arthur.  Also watched another on two survivors of the London Bombings not too long ago.
Curt and I watched the first episode of the new season of Stranger Things, and we are also continuing to watch Star Trek The Next Generation.

On my TV this week:::
TV:
General Hospital
Homemaking vlogs
Star Trek
Handmaid's Tale

Documentaries:
The Ghosts of the Mary Rose
Secrets of the Great Plague
Victorian Bakers
If walls could talk:  An intimate history of the home
Let's cook history
Fanny:  A saga of women on the Oregon Trail
The American West Season 1, Episode 1

Movies:
Sandow
Lacey
Lady MacBeth
Effie Gray
Williamstowne

On the menu for this week:::

Monday
Mozzarella Chicken with Garlic Spaghetti

Tuesday
Beef Fajitas, Mexican Rice

Wednesday
Hay and Straw

Thursday
Chicken Tater Bake, Salad

Friday
Pepperoni Pizza Loaf

On my to do list:::
Housework
Work on new meal plan
Call dealership to get an update on car

What I am sewing, crocheting, knitting or creating:::
I still haven't finished my crochet project, and I'm frustrated because I seem to have lost my crochet mojo.  I miss the days when I was home all the time and constantly churning out crochet items.  Really need to tap back into that part of my soul and get back on the crochet train.

Looking forward to:::
A week of being home and having no commitments outside the house.  I want to work on some blog posts, take tons of pictures, crochet, watch documentaries and movies and really just relax.

Looking around the house:::
It's dark due to the cloudy skies outside.  The only sound is that of the TV playing in the background.

From the camera:::
Gorgeous flowers at the park.

What I'm wearing today:::
Still in my pajamas, will pop on some shorts and a tshirt for the day.  I've just gone through my wardrobe this weekend and am realizing that most of my shorts are not fitting anymore.  I don't feel like I've put on a lot of weight but my clothes feel super tight, and I've realized after talking to my doctor, that it's all age related and as I get older the weight seems to be creeping up.  I'm not overweight but I'm definitely not the skinny chicken I used to be and that's ok, but I do need to udpate my wardrobe to reflect those changes.

One of my simple pleasures:::
Learning about era's gone by.  I get so happy when I'm watching a video or reading a book, that takes me back in time and teaches me about those days.

Bible verse, Devotional, prayers:::
Yesterday's Elevation Church Sermon was given by Lisa Harper.  It was brilliant and I felt like she was speaking to me, in so many different ways.  I wish the sermon was already online so that I could link it to you all, but it's not.  However, I will point you in the direction of all the sermons and when it pops up, you can click on and give it a go.  You won't be disappointed.

Your weather is surely hot. We had a heat wave, but we are finally down to the 80's now.

Aaaahhhhh! Home all week! What I wouldn't give for one of those!!! Hot, yes! Our temps are supposed to be in the 90's. I'm sure that the triple digits aren't far behind. Your menus look great and I love the flowers! They are absolutely gorgeous! Have a great week ahead, Sandra, and blessings! <3

Congratulations on being a homebody this week! What a simple joy to have no where to go and free to get your household projects and work done without interruption! I LOVE your simple look and glad it's back. Have a FANTASTIC week.

I like the simple theme with it's clean lines. I've been thinking of blogging again and set one up but I'm having difficulties figuring blogger out since they made changes. It's been frustrating.

Our weather here is super hot!! too much to get much accomplished. I don't know if it's because of the changes you made but your page opens up much quicker.
Have a great week

Hi Sandra! I have felt a bit the same with my quilting mojo, but as the weather has cooled down my mojo has returned and I am once again a quilting machine lol. I hope you have a great week!

Hey Sweetie! I love the homebody that you are!! 😊 I completely get that sometimes and wished I had the option more too. I hope you get your crochet mojo back too...love to see what you come up with! I had to peek at what "hay & straw" was, as I didn't remember that one. It sounds like something right up our alley over here. You should write your own cookbook Lady. You could include a whole section just on recipes from your heritage too and stories. Just sayin 😉
I'll be so curious to see what you keep thinking about the intermittent fasting. I have tried some versions but never stuck with it. If you love it and get results I may try again.
Have a blessed week ahead!! ❤️

Running a tad late on getting my commenting done. I'm right there with you on having a relaxing week at home. This summer seems to have been nonstop going and I'm hit my limit of "going".

I enjoy learning about bygone era's as well. I've recently become very interested in my local area's history. It's so much fun driving down streets and being able to 'see' them as what they would have looked like in the past.

Hope you're having a great week.
