Happy Homemaker Monday - 07/15/2019

Good morning everyone, hope you've all had a wonderful weekend.

We had a good one, spent most of the weekend working on the yards.  There is a lot that needs to be done in this house and with 3 acres, it seems that yard work is never finished.  My husband has been working super hard to control the weeds, the overgrowth around the property and so on.  I've helped as much as I can, unfortunately being surrounded by a lot of trees and grasses that I'm allergic to, makes it hard to be out there for long stretches.

Yesterday afternoon we had a barbecue and invited over my brother and his family, which included my sister in laws mom who is visiting from South Africa, and my niece and her baby girl who are visiting from Idaho.  It was wonderful :)

Anyway, Happy Monday friends, hope you all have a blessed week ahead!

The weather:::
Oh my goodness, it's been HOT and it's supposed to get hotter this week.  We've had 100 degree days with real feel of 112 and so on.  I'm dying out there people, I usually love summer time and being outside but this year I have found myself hiding indoors close to the fan.  Ridiculous!

Monday - Sunny, 96
Tuesday - Sunny, 102
Wednesday - Mostly Sunny, 101
Thursday - Sunny, 100
Friday - Sunny, 101

On the breakfast plate this morning:::
I've just had coffee and nothing to eat yet, I'll eat after I drop my daughter off at work.  I'm not sure what I'm going to have, not really feeling like anything this morning so I'll wait until I return.

Right now I am:::
Watching some youtube vlogs, typing up this post and telling myself that I'm not as tired as I feel.

On my bedside table:::
Phone, lotion, remotes and my cup of coffee.

On my reading pile:::
The Summer of Sunshine and Margot by Susan Mallery

Movies or Shows I watched this weekend:::
I have not had much time to watch TV this weekend, matter of fact I don't really think I've been inside much, but the few times I had something playing in the background, it was as always, documentaries.

On my TV this week:::
TV:
General Hospital
Homemaking vlogs
Star Trek The Next Generation
Handmaid's Tale
Haunted Towns
Ghost Adventures

Documentaries:
The Ghosts of the Mary Rose
Secrets of the Great Plague
Victorian Bakers
If walls could talk:  An intimate history of the home
Let's cook history

Movies:
Sandow
Lacey
Lady MacBeth
Effie Gray
Williamstowne

On the menu for this week:::

Monday
Chicken Carbonara Risotto, Salad

Tuesday
Cheesy Manicotti, Garlic Bread

Wednesday
Garlic Bread Pasta Torte

Thursday
Breaded Pork Chops, Cilantro Rice, Peas

Friday
Meatloaf, Mashed Potatoes, Asparagus

On my to do list:::
Housework
Clean up from the barbecue (only put away food items and dishes in the sinks and washer, but tables, chairs etc, are all still where they were)
Call dealership to get an update on car
Iron big pile of laundry
Water plants outside (my cantaloupe are coming in and I'm super excited)

What I am sewing, crocheting, knitting or creating:::
I'm frustrated with myself, I need to manage my time better to include some crochet time, but I also have a quilt that needs finishing and some sewing projects I want to get going with.

Looking forward to:::
Tomorrow all the girls are going out for the day, that's me and Jasmine, my sister in law, niece and baby, and Aunt Val (sister in law's mom).  I'm looking forward to a nice lunch, a mooch around the mall and just spending time together.

Looking around the house:::
It's desperately needing attention.  Let's go step by step shall we?  The living room has a computer chair that everyone was using for the Playstation VR.  The coffee table has been pulled out of the way so needs to be put back in place and the chair removed.  Need to fix couch pillows and blankets and so on and vacuum.  The dining room is a mess, gotta remove the table leaves, put everything in place, put away the serving table, vacuum etc.  House just looks a tip at the moment, but I'll get it put back together soon as I get back from dropping Jasmine off.

From the camera:::
That white bird I was talking about last week?  Managed to catch a pic of him, so if anyone knows what it is, let me know in the comments below.

What I'm wearing today:::
In my nightie at the moment, just gonna pop on some comfy baggy pants and a tank top to drive her, then will switch to some shorts for the rest of the day.

One of my simple pleasures:::
Looking through old cookbooks.

Bible verse, Devotional, prayers:::

Sounds like you all had a productive weekend! And, my goodness! It's been hot here, but not that hot! You have my sympathy. I hate hot weather! Your menus look delicious...as always...and I love the bird pic! It's a heron or egret of some kind. How tall was it?

Sandra, look up cattle egret and see if that's not what it is.

As much as I miss Texas, I DO NOT miss the hot humid summers. I always his inside too! I think Rebecca is right on the bird identification - they have such an odd head shape, but are so graceful. Have a WONDERFUL week and stay as cool as you can.

Your heat sounds like ours this week. It'll be hotter than ever here and it is miserable weather.

We're heading into a hot week this week too. It makes it so unbearable to be outside, unless you're floating in a pool. Have a great week.

It's been so miserably hot and add in all the rain. yuck. I always love the family get togethers but the aftermath and cleaning just drains me. Hope you have fun tomorrow with all the girls eating and playing in the mall!

Sounds like you have our weather. I also think that's a cattle egret. Hope you have a fun girls day out on Tuesday and a wonderful rest of your week!
