The Summer of Sunshine and Margot by Susan Mallery - TLC Book Tour

Hardcover: 368 pages
Publisher: HQN; Original edition (June 11, 2019)

The Baxter sisters come from a long line of women with disastrous luck in love. But this summer, Sunshine and Margot will turn disasters into destiny…

As an etiquette coach, Margot teaches her clients to fit in. But she’s never faced a client like Bianca, an aging movie star who gained fame—and notoriety—through a campaign of shock and awe. Schooling Bianca on the fine art of behaving like a proper diplomat’s wife requires intensive lessons, forcing Margot to move into the monastery turned mansion owned by the actress’s intensely private son. Like his incredible home, Alec’s stony exterior hides secret depths Margot would love to explore. But will he trust her enough to let her in?

Sunshine has always been the good-time sister, abandoning jobs to chase after guys who used her, then threw her away. No more. She refuses to be “that girl” again. This time, she’ll finish college, dedicate herself to her job as a nanny, and she 100 percent will not screw up her life again by falling for the wrong guy. Especially not the tempting single dad who also happens to be her boss.

Master storyteller Susan Mallery weaves threads of family drama, humor, romance and a wish-you-were-there setting into one of the most satisfying books of the year!

My Thoughts:

Oh Susan Mallery, you did it again.  This book was FANTASTIC!!!

I'm a HUGE Susan Mallery fan, I love her books, I think she has such a way with words that immediately pull me in, so to say that I was hooked from the first page is not an understatement.

So, what exactly is this book about and why did I enjoy it so much?

Well let's start with the cover and the catchy title, I mean The Summer of Sunshine and Margot.  I was thinking drinks on the beach and all that but it turns out Sunshine and Margot are the main characters, two sisters, fraternal twins who couldn't be more different if they tried, not just in personalities but looks.

Margot is the more serious one, the quieter more observant of the two, a bit of a cold heart some may call her.

Sunshine is true to her name, bubbly and outgoing, a bit of a party girl always ready for the next adventure which usually includes a myriad of men who are not good for her.  She's been used, she's been dumped, she's been left and heartbroken and quite frankly, she has had enough and is ready to make changes and grow up, so to speak.

While both sisters come at life in different ways, they are both at a stage where they want to make much needed changes, and they need to look within to make that happen.

I usually tend to feel pulled towards one specific character, even in siblings, I tend to like one more than the other, but I have to say that Susan Mallery had me rooting and loving both sisters.  I wanted so badly to see them succeed, and I was thrilled when they both showed incredible growth.

Ultimately, they're both looking for that once in a lifetime love and when they come face to face with what could be it for the, how will they deal?

What we end up seeing is the struggle to break bad habits and rid themselves of their family history and bad luck with men, it's almost like a curse they've carried for their 30 plus years on earth.

Through it all, they are each other's biggest cheerleaders showing unconditional love and support which in the end is what each needed to make the transition from a bad habit of picking the wrong men, into getting their happily ever after with the men before them.

Loved, loved, loved this book!!!
