Blue's Clues Anyone????

Posted by Picasal
So two days ago while rummaging through the video cabinet, Nicholas found a treasure (for him at least). He found all of Jasmine's old Blue's Clues tapes. There must be like 30 or 50, I think at the time she was so obsessed with it that she pretty much got them all as they were released on video. Now that she's a BIG GIRL and no longer interested in "baby stuff", or so she says, she has no need for the tapes. Of course for Nicholas who is almost 3 years old, these are what he has been wanting for as long as he can think.

For the past few days, he sits at the kitchen table watching blue's clues tapes. I set up the VCR in there so it wouldn't interfere with the tv in the living room. I don't think I've seen him this happy or this quiet in a while. GO BLUE'S CLUES!!!! Why didn't I think of this before??????

It's one of those yucky days in Mountain Home. It's cloudy, it's only 34 degrees and it's supposed to rain. I dont' know what it is about days like this that make me want to crawl back into bed and sleep the day away. Oh if only.........

The exercise on base ended last night. Curt got home at 1:30 am. Scared me at first cause I'm not expecting him until after 6am, then I heard footsteps coming up the stairs. Not what you want to hear when you're not expecting anyone home at that time. He was supposed to work tomorrow too but thankfully he is off. YAY!!!

*sigh* the only thing I got done yesterday was to vacuum and sweep the whole of downstairs and do the dusting too. Now everything else that was on the list was left for today. No lazy quiet friday for me. Tomorrow we have Sydney's (you can see her pic on my friend Veronica's blog) birthday party, I can't wait. She's so funny and she cracks me up with the things she says and does. Kids are excited to go.

So I'm off to get my friday started. I'll be back later with more from the middle of nowhere, Idaho.

BLESS THE BROKEN ROAD

I'm ashamed to admit that I didn't get ANYTHING accomplished today...dagnabit! I swear there are days that I make all these to do lists and then end up doing nothing on it. LOL

It's one of those days where I feel content. Just content. For not reason. It's not like something major happened or anything, but I feel happy, I just look around and realize that I have a great husband and great kids, a good house, cute doggies etc. So I decided to end tonight with a song that I dedicate to them, it reminds me of all the ups and downs and all the hardships I've gone through to get to this point in my life.

Hope you enjoy it too :)

Youth Activities anyone????

So it's that time of the year again. Time to decide, along with your kid, what activities they'll be doing. Now, I'm one of those moms that does not believe in overloading your child with extra-curricular activites....somehow the thought of dragging Jasmine around from soccer, to dance, to taekwondo, to softball etc, does NOT appeal to me. I think she would actually hate me for it!!!

So we've narrowed it down to 2 so far. She definitely wants to do Dance, I think mostly because her Aunt Nadine is a dance teacher and her cousins, Tiffany, Taryn-Lee and Alyssa ALL do dancing. It started that there were no dancing classes for kids under 6 on base. I patiently waited until she was old enough, and now I go and call to get her signed up only to be greeted with "Oh I'm sorry, we have no dance instructor right now, we're looking for one still.". I put the phone down and think, "thanks a lot lady, now I have to tell Jasmine who's been waiting since she was 2 years old". That didn't go down too well, she wasn't impressed to say the least, so I was instructed, or more like ORDERED, to keep calling until they find her a dance teacher. LOL
YES MA'M!!!! (insert salute here).

Then she decided she wants to do Taekwondo (please don't yell if it's not spelled correctly lol). I thought, you know that would be a great idea, we could actually do a family thing. Lord knows I could use the exercise. So I find out about that, and it turns out Nicholas won't be able to do it because you have to be at least 6 years old. Well dagnabit, this is getting annoying. So if we do it it means I would have to put him in daycare for the time? Make him sit there and watch? HAH, now that I would pay to see. Oh and did I mention that the Taekwondo instructor orders you to do situps if you are not concentrating.....I bet I would have the BEST looking stomach on base. Hmmm now I REALLY want to do it LOL

Now this is what I have planned for today.

  • Call up doctor in Boise and find out if they've mailed my paperwork for INS
  • Call up Bowling Alley to book Jasmine's Birthday Party
  • Go by self help to get a carpet cleaner, I'm SO glad these are free because using one every week would definitely have us in bankruptcy.
  • Go by commissary, AGAIN, to get the dog food that I forgot, or was it, decided NOT to get yesterday while I was in a hurry to get the heck out of the store before Nicholas drove me completely insane.
  • Go by Youth Center to pick up pamphlets with all the activities available for the kids.
  • Go by Library to return movies and maybe recheck them since I didn't get a chance to watch.
  • Vacuum and mop all floors downstairs.
  • Clean bathrooms (BLEH).
  • Go by Walmart to pick up some items.

You know after writing all that I'm already tired, maybe I should skip it all and do it tomorrow. LOL
NAH, why leave for tomorrow what you can do today?!?!?! If I do all of this then I get to enjoy my friday in peace and quiet......Hmmm wow, scratch that I just got bonked on the head with a flying Buzz Lightyear, guess to remind me that the peace and quiet is really not there with a 2 year old LOL....thanks Nicholas, I love you too!

Well I'm outta here for now....I better get a move on that list of TO DO'S. Gonna finish my cup of coffee first, I need the extra energy.

I welcome the night with open arms

To say that I'm so ready for today to be over is not even close to how I feel.

Nicholas as usual, didn't surprise me at the Commissary. From the moment we walked in the door he was acting out. Remember the shopping cart with the car? The one that I had to be sure I was there first so I wouldn't have to put up with him crying?
Well the good thing is that I DID get it, the bad thing is that within 5 minutes, I was pushing around a shopping cart with a HUGE Dora inside and had Nicholas walking ahead and trying to grab everything he saw.

Now why does he do that? I ask myself time and time again, where did I go wrong? I remember being little and going anywhere with my parents, I was always on my best behavior. I must be doing something terribly wrong here. Sigh......so after an hour of trying to get my groceries done while chasing after a 2 year old, I came home feeling totally defeated. Ok Nicholas you won YET AGAIN!!! How frustrating!!!
I have to reintroduce the "time out" and "thinking spot" punishment again because the way we're going is getting us nowhere.

Had an email today from friends of ours that got out of the Air Force and are now living in the East Coast. Actually we have 2 couples that are there. It's always nice to hear from everyone and to catch up on what they're doing. This is the one thing about military life. It's nice in a way but sad in another......nice because you get to meet so many wonderful friends, and sad because before you know it they're getting orders somewhere else and the only contact becomes emails and the occasional phone call here and there.

Well it's that time of the day for me to say goodnight. I hope you all have a wonderful night. For my family in Jo'burg, South Africa who will be starting their day in a couple of hours, I love you and miss you terribly. Stay safe.

Jesus Take the Wheel

I decided to start this post today by playing one of my all time favorite songs and one which I think we could all use at times. I don't know why but I'm feeling a little down today, maybe it's because we're back to cold temperatures or I don't know, just hope I can get out of this funk soon.
Hope this song brings a smile to everyone out there and remember that when things seem to be getting too tough, just hand it over to Jesus and let him take over. You can never go wrong that way. :)

Listen to song JESUS, TAKE THE WHEEL (Carrie Underwood)HERE:

So, with that said, I know I'm going to need ALL the help I can get to make it through this day, especially as I'm heading out the door to get groceries, with a two year old in tow. Oh man, wish me luck. I have to make it there as soon as the Commissary doors open so that I can get the ONLY, hear that, ONLY shopping cart with those ride on cars for the kids. IF I don't get that one I'm going to have to deal with Nicholas whining and complaing and crying the WHOLE time, and he'll be following the person who has it around the store. LOL

With that said, I have got to get a move on. At least I'm happy that it's payday, that always brings a smile to my face, at least until you start paying the bills, then the smile magically fades away.
