{ Catching up }

Well I'm hoping this post finds you all doing well. Me, I'm doing good, just very busy these last few days before school ends and Summer begins.

That's right, we have exactly one week left of school, or technically 5 days.

I'm excited.

So what have I been up to, well, a little of this and a little of that, so let's chat, let me fill you in on the happenings around here.

Tuesday night Jasmine had her second Band Concert, she was so excited for it, it's been such a blessing seeing her develop and progress in her Clarinet playing, she's very good and you can tell that she loves it.

The concert was held at another Elementary school, the Music teacher teaches at both schools and he likes pairing the bands together and putting on shows for both. It went extremely well, the kids played wonderfully.

Only irritating part is that Jasmine is always in the back or behind the bigger kids and I have a hard time getting pictures, nevermind the fact that taking photos inside schools have to be one of the most annoying things ever. Am I right or am I right?

See what I mean?

Oh and look at the stunning sunset as we drove home from the concert.

Now tell me how many of you squinted while looking at the picture? I know you did, cause I did too, it's like I'm outside staring at that sun glare again.

The next morning, she had Field Day at school, and guess what? Mommy and Daddy were not welcome. The nerve!

2010_05120004

I don't think I'll ever get used to being told NOT to come because it's embarrassing. I'm not embarrassing, I'm super cool, aren't I?

2010_05120007

So I told her "No way Jose, I'm showing up and I'm taking pics of this, but I'll tell you what? I'll stand in the background and away, no one will know I'm even there". All the while thinking, this sucks, I gave birth to this child and now she doesn't want me around. I'm sure all you other moms of tweens and teens out there know what I'm talking about....and all I can say is "HOLD ME".

2010_05120010

Look at them? These Fifth Graders who started the year meek as mice and developed into rambunctious, independent tweens.

2010_05120013

But I did what I promised, Daddy and I stayed far away but I zoomed in and took photos and then cackled when I saw her egg drop, cause I'm mean like that. Pay back for not letting me embarrass her in front of her friends LOL

So now do you see what I've been doing this week?

Oh and I've also been getting the Teacher Gifts ready. I have to say I have been amazingly blessed with the Teachers my children have and it may be in part due to the fact that I'm a very involved parent who develops a relationship with the teachers throughout the year.

I believe in being aware of everything that happens at school, of being involved in their school work and in helping the teachers make the year go by smoothly. It's not just "see ya, you're the teacher's problem when you're not home". No, no, no....believe me, the best thing you can do for you children is to be in touch and up to date in their school.

Here's one of the gifts I'm giving them, these were very and I mean VERY inexpensive. I got them from Amazon and think they are just beautiful and perfect for Mrs Yang and Ms Wells.

Love the boxes they come in and I have to say they are so much better than I expected.

When I say affordable price, I mean really affordable....$8.99. You can't beat that and they truly are pretty.

I also love the little card inside, on the back it has a to and from where you can put in the teacher's name and the kids name. So Sweet.

Any teachers reading my blog? What do you think? Will they like it?

I also spent an hour yesterday watching F-16's land and take off. What can I say, I love these airplanes, they are one of the most amazing things you will ever see up close.

I see it's been a busy, but fun week. Cute pictures of Jasmine, even though you had a hard time getting them! I remember the period of not wanting Mom there. It does pass, but it takes some time!
I love those teacher gifts. You did great!!!

Not a teacher - but LOVE your gifts! :) Like the pics too... we're going to a band concert on Fri night (Andrew plays trumpet). I never can get good pics of him either! And love me a good air show - cool you get one often! :)

I'm a teacher and the idea behind your gifts is very, very, sweet. Personally, I always preferred cards/pictures made by the child. Consumable gifts are also good. Over the years kids of have given me soo much random (but sweet) stuff that I had to get rid of a lot of it. However, I keep ALL the cards in a huge binder. I guess I'm just really anti clutter.

Gorgeous teacher gifts. My kids were always in the back too but it was because they are tall. Thank you so much for the video of the jets landing. AHHH--the sights and sounds I have been missing for so long!! Have a great weekend!!

I love the teachers gifts. I am so going to copy this.

That was so funny about Jasmine and her growing up and getting funny about mom and dad being around. Thankfully I can tell you this is just a phase.

You got a few nice pics even though Jasmine is always in the back behind tall kids. I never know why they set things up like this. I have had the same problem.

Love the jets too. We watch them when we go to Hickam beach. The kids are amazed.

Looks like Nicholas had an awesome field day too. Can't wait to see what you have planned for this summer. You are always giving your readers great ideas.

I'm a teacher - I teach 8 year olds and I would love one of these. Especially if accompanied by a homemade card by the kids. What a fun present :)

Sure do miss the 16's!!! Grew up with the sound of them taking off (lived right next to the flight line) and then my husband worked on them. But, now he's working on the cv-22.. we sure do miss the fighter atmoshphere. Helicopters are different, lol!

I can SO relate to your daughter not wanting you there. I once told our daughter...don't make a big deal about us being there...if you do I'll just stand there and cry and throw my arms around your legs and beg you not to go...LOL! She was quiet as a church mouse...thankfully!!

I love the teacher gifts! My son loves the pictures of the jets.

Blessings!

I like those teacher gifts. I may have to pick one up for my oldest's teacher.

The F16's are super cool! We've gone to a couple air shows before and they're definitely the best part.

Have a great weekend!
