Hooky Saturday!!!

It's always a glorious day when I spend it with my colorful yarn and my crochet hook.

I was feeling a little down in the dumps when it comes to crochet, as much as I love it, sometimes I get a little bogged down with all the projects I have planned and I end up overwhelmed and not really 'feeling' any of them.

It has been a few weeks actually, but today it just clicked in, I woke up and I knew exactly what I wanted to do and what colors to use and what pattern etc.

I probably shouldn't be starting another blanket, my ripply is still sitting here half finished, and I will get to it eventually, matter of fact I want to have it done before my family gets here, I think it will make a nice gift for my niece and nephew.....to be able to hand them both a handmade crochet blanket :)

Anyway, my day started very early even though it's a weekend, the reason being that it was one of hubby's college class days, and with class starting at 8am, he needs to be up by 6:30am to be able to have some coffee and still make it all the way downton to college.

I don't bother going back to bed, I'm the kind of gal who once she's up, she's up.

So I started with a big cup of coffee and some toast on Portuguese Rolls, one of my favorite simple breakfasts :)

On to the couch, with my Fringe show on the laptop, and my selected yarns...

The minute I started the first granny square, I just smiled, and it's as if a weight just lifted off my shoulders.

My fingers work by themselves, just moving along the chain, knowing exactly where to go without me having to force them.

15 minutes later, I had my first square done.

I'm sure you've noticed that I tend to stick with Cath Kidston inspired colors, I just love the endless combinations and the different shades.

I've decided it's going to be a blanket more on the green side, so all the blocks will be ended with the same shade of green. I'm thinking 6 blocks across should be the perfect size blanket, I don't want something huge that will take forever, or I will quickly lose interest and move onto something else.

Had to take a break in the afternoon while I skyped with family back home, which I just loved doing, it's always great seeing their faces :)

While I waited for hubby to return home from class, I whipped up another two blocks.

What do you think so far?

I have to be honest, I'm in love with it already, so I am looking forward to seeing it progress, and the granny squares work up so fast that I can make at least 2 a night, so it shouldn't take me very long at all to complete this blanket.

Now back to my yarn I go, have sort of a rhythm going and don't want to break it.

How are YOU spending your Saturday night?

Your squares are super! I wondered how came up with such a pretty and interesting combo especially with the red in the middle and then you mentioned Cath Kidston..I will need to check this all out now that you have my curiosity up.

Once I'm up I can't go back to bed either, I love the morning way too much to waste it.

I am off to watch a Brit show "As Time Goes By" we are big fans.

Have a good night. xo

I do the same thing with getting bogged down having too many crochet projects I want to do but not really feeling it! I love your new granny squares and the colors are great! Green is my favorite color anyway:) Can't wait to see the finished project!

I'm the same in the mornings, once I'm up that's it. I don't like feeling like I've wasted the day in bed.

I knit but I would love to learn how to crochet.. I've tried teaching myself using YouTube videos but I just cannot get the hand of it! Your squares look beautiful though x

Very pretty! And the bit of green is nice for this season. Your flowers are so nice and healthy!

I get excited over eating chocolate like you do crocheting :) (just half kidding).

I wish I had more talent. I find it hard to do anything now since I have to wear bifocals!

I spent my Saturday at a homeschool conference with a dear friend of mine. I gained some nice tips and renewed my passion to homeschool our girls.
