Allergies are the pits, aren't they???

April 20

About a month before we left Idaho, I suddenly developed allergies.  It was so bad, especially because the doctor put me on Zyrtec and turns out I am allergic to THAT too.  I thought I was going to die LOL

Then we got here to Arizona and I had a really bad dry eyes attack, I didn't even know what was going on, my eyes were blood shot and I mean BLOOD shot, I couldn't blink without it hurting and I felt like I had sacks of dirt swimming around my eyeballs.   After going to the eye doctor, he asked me how long I had been in Arizona and when I told him "just a month", he smiled and told me that a lot of people who come to this State develop dry eyes.

This place does not play when it comes to allergies, it really is the pits for any allergy sufferers, people with respiratory issues etc.

The whole of last week we had very high winds kicking all the pollen and other nastiness around.  Usually on days like those, I stay indoors and avoid it all, but since it was testing time, not only did we have to leave the house, but we had to stay outside waiting for the kids.....that was it for me.

I've spent this weekend suffering pretty badly with these allergies, and I'm about done with them.....they need to just GO.

April 20

They make me so miserable, truly, and I'm usually such a happy, smiley person that I find it hard to deal with myself like this LOL

April 20

Eyes so itchy, rubbing hard, make up disappearing.....this is how I'm looking this weekend, no shame.   And for some reason, anytime my immune system feels attacked, I get cold sores.

So, aside from a quick trip to JoAnn's for some felt so I can make Jasmine's Birthday present, I came home, got laundry started, fed the family lunch and then moved to the bedroom where I spent all afternoon while the hubby and kids played together.

I'm so grateful to have a wonderful husband who takes care of me and the children, he is only too happy to hang out with them, and I think it helps that they are not little anymore, they're teens and tweens which means they don't need mommy's full attention every second of the day.

April 20

Is there a better way to read Jane Austen?  I don't think so, because chocolate goes with everything.

When I came back from JoAnn's the wind had died down a little, so I grabbed the camera and snapped some pictures of the flowers in the garden, they are looking so gorgeous and I love different colors spread out under the kitchen window.

Sunflowers.....these grow like crazy.  We keep laughing because the kids say they're going to grow taller than the house lol

April 20

Until dinner time, I lay down for a while, watched some Little House in the Big Woods on my laptop and tried to relax and let the allergy meds take effect.

April 20

I'm thinking today may be another day of the same, except for some homeschooling which we need to catch up on from last week.

April 20

Oh and this was last night's dinner, another recipe revisited, I had forgotten how much I enjoy these and it had been a few years since I had made them.

I think it's the beauty of having a food blog, you can go back through the archives to the very beginning and find treasures you had completely forgotten about. Tell you one thing, my family and I are loving these *lost* recipes again :)

Chicken Egg Rolls

If you want to try these for yourself, they're very easy to make, and you can find the recipe on my food blog, Chicken Egg Rolls.

Alrighty, I need to get some laundry going, and I also need to see what I need for dinner so I can take it out of the freezer, I'll be making Pepperoni Pizzaz and some Garlic Bread.

Here's hoping your Sunday is a LOT more interesting than mine.

Blessings,
Sandra

Girl I so feel ya! I started having the sneezing, nose pouring, face & eye itch attacks in 2001! I went to an ENT who tested me for everything under the sun. He said I wasn't allergic to anything but had NON-ALLERGIC RHINITIS. He said a change in, temperature, humidity, smells could trigger my "Fits". The rx he gave me made my heart race for a few hours ( like I could jump out of my skin!) then I would crash. I would become so overwhelmingly tired that I would then have to go to bed! I've been through so many different kinds of medicines and nasal sprays! It hits all of a sudden and I sneeze so hard (my bladder can't take it, if you know what I mean) and sneeze constantly over & over that I can hardly talk when it happens. It completely shuts me down from working or anything until the medicine kicks in...then I have to deal with the side effects of the medicine.

And mite I add between the side effects of the meds & just the over all attack itself....I can't stand myself or anyone else.

I-So-kno-how-u-feel!!!!!!!

Glad the testing is done and some normalcy will be back in your house now.

I hope you feel better. I look forward to your posts more than any other.

Oh Sandra, I hope you start to feel better, I don't suffer from allergies but my mom does bad, so I know what you're going through.

I'm right there with you - I hate allergies. I was under the mistaken impression that Arizona was good for people with allergies though.
A few weeks ago I ended up at the eye Dr because my eyes were so itchy I had actually scratched my eye in my sleep. She said she could see a fingernail gouge in it. Bob is threatening to make me wear mittens to bed. :)
Hope you're feeling better. I agree - some chocolate would help!

Sorry that your allergies are kicking up a fuss. We've had wind here in So. Cal too and the pollen is really bad! We are starting our testing on Tuesday and will be glad when it is over. What curriculum do you use? We do K-12 because they provide everything including computers and such. Plus it makes it easier for me to track. Have a wonderful week, hope your allergies get better!

Sandra,

I hope you feel better soon! Those egg rolls look yummy. I am not one for egg rolls but I may have to try your recipe this coming weekend.

I am gearing up for my full week of classes. I have so much to do and yet here I am procrastinating.

I just have no motivation to get anything done.

I hope you have a good rest of your Sunday and I sending allergy be-gone wishes your way.

I just had pink eye for the first time in my life ... and I still am not sure I am 100% healed of it, so I'm feeling some of your pain - but really, not as badly since I don't think I have allergies as such. :(

FEEL BETTER SOON so you all can have a great week ahead!!
Enjoyed the pics today.

Hope you are feeling better soon. The dust the wind kicks up here can be bad for allergies, but in other ways, it is better for allergies. Different for everyone! Those egg roles do look good so I am going to print off the recipe and give them a try. Hope your have a good week-to-come!

Hey Sandra. I was in bed with severe allergies that were triggering facial migraines for the past five weeks. Last Wednesday, mostly out of desperation, I went and had acupuncture done. It flared my facial pain for the remainder of that day but during the next day, I slowly felt my pain being relieved, and I have been so much better since! It's really amazing! Also, have you ever tried a different med like Claritin or Allegra? My doctor also started me on Singulair last week to take in addition to my Zyrtec. But my hope is to continue with the acupuncture so I can get off the allergy meds. I currently take four prescription meds which is just ridiculous for an otherwise healthy 33 year old. Oh, I'll be praying for you. I know how miserable severe allergies are. They make you feel so exhausted!

I used to have the worst allergies. I was on Zyrtec, Singular, inhalers and even an antibiotic everyday for a year. Since I went gluten free and diary free I mainly just do eye drops.I really don't have anymore symptoms and I live in the Ohio valley right now, which is one of the worst areas. Overall, I feel the best this way. I hope you feel better!!
