Reconnecting - Part 8

I know, I know, it's been a while but so many things were going on that I had to take a break from the South Africa trip photos. But I think it's time we get back to business and besides, when last we spoke we were just about to embark on a 5:30 am morning safari right?

So go ahead and grab a big cup of coffee and get comfy, it's going to take a while and I'm sure you don't want to miss out on all the great photos coming your way.



Our second day at the Kruger National Park started early in the morning, everyone kinda dragged themselves out of bed, there was sleepy eyes and a little crankiness but for the most part we all looked forward to one of the best things about being there......getting up right as the Camp Gate opens and driving out to see what we could find.

One of the first animals we saw was this Warthog, just going about his business.

Wild chickens, they're everywhere and they're pretty hard to spot cause they blend in with the scenery so well don't they?

Now THESE are one of the hardest animals to see at the Kruger Park, the Wild Dogs. We were lucky to see not just this one, but another 3, they seemed to be circling a few Springbok in the distance

I am just glad that I'm not going to be around whatever is going to come out of that HUGE spider web. That's just........eeeeeeeeewwwwww

These guys are everywhere, I was actually sick of seeing them after the second day LOL

If you love Giraffes like I do, then you would be in heaven, they are so graceful and we spotted quite a few.

We didn't see much that first morning, but it was still amazing getting out there that early and enjoying the wild life. By the time we got back to the houses, we were all starved and it was time for breakfast, which Curt offered to make for everyone. He makes the BEST crispy bacon!

What do you do if you're sitting at a table in the direct sunlight and you can't find a hat nearby???? Well, use a napkin on your head of course LOL That's my dad's ingenious idea LOL

And because he wanted to pitch in too he even washed the dishes and that's a big *GASP GASP* I have never in my life seen my dad wash so much as a spoon LOL

My wonderful hubby enjoying his breakfast in the fresh air with the sound of the wild animals in the distance. I tell you there is something very majestic about this place, if I could, I would live there.

Tita (my stepmom) and the kids. Let me just tell you that I love this woman to death, she stepped in to take care of me and my 2 brothers after my dad's divorced and she's always been a mother to us. I don't think of her as a stepmother, I think of her as a mother. She's done so much for us and I'm truly blessed to have her in my life. So Nela...if you're reading this, just know that I love you :)

We headed to the store on camp and bought the ingredients for lunch which was made by dad...chicken curry. Boy was it good. I love my dad, he is always goofing off with everyone.

After lunch, we all hung around inside, just relaxing and chatting. We did take the kids to the camp pool a few hours later (you'll have to wait for those pics lol)

And that was it for day two at the Kruger National Park. It really is a place for you to go and get away, to be free of tv's and cellphones and all the craziness of everyday life.

We took the kids to the Camp pool later in the day and then the next morning we got in the car and headed to Crocodile Bridge and Lower Sabie Campgrounds....loved both. I'll share those photos tomorrow :)
