{ Happy Homemaker Monday - 08/19/2019 }

EDIT:  Oh my goodness, I am SO sorry, I completely forgot to put the link up.  It is up now, thank you all for reminding me LOL

Good morning ladies, and a very Happy Monday to you all.

How was your weekend?

I had a pretty good one, didn't do much which is always nice since we tend to work through our weekends like they're weekdays.  Sometimes your body needs a rest and thankfully that is what we got.

Yesterday afternoon, the hubby, myself and our daughter, headed to our local Antique stores.  Unfortunately they were all closed, except for one, and we had a nice browse around it.  I LOVE antique stores, honestly I could live in them LOL

I ended up just picking up two books, a cookbook and an old book to add to my collection of old books, you know how much I love those.

Anyway, it is Monday, I actually am home all day today and very much looking forward to it.  I have a pretty easy week, my girl is not working many days which is a nice break from the constant driving back and forth.  I do have my annual breast exam and smear test, on Thursday morning.  It's been 5 years since my last smear so I'm up for one again, but then it will be another 5 years after that.

It's not an exam I look forward to, much like the mammogram, but it is a necessity and I encourage you all to go.  If you haven't been for either of these tests, please, please book yours now.  It is so important to do.

Ok, enough babbling, I always tend to ramble on these hahahah

Let's see what we all have coming up in our Happy Homemaker Monday

The weather:::
So incredibly sick of the triple digits.  I've said it before, and seem to say it every week, but I'm struggling with the heat, like BIG TIME.  I get in the truck with the hubby or to take Jasmine and I'm already sweating and needing the air con on full blast.  Ridiculous!!!

Unfortunately we are still going to have a a few weeks of this crazy heat, so nothing I can do and I'm quite tired of complaining about it, so I'll just give in and ride this crazy wave.

Monday - Sunny, 104
Tuesday - Mostly Sunny, 102
Wednesday - Mostly Sunny, 102
Thursday - Mostly Sunny, 98
Friday - Partly cloudy, 97

On the breakfast plate this morning:::
Had my early morning cup of coffee with the Peppermint Mocha Creamer.  I always switch up the creamers, so every week seems to be a different one.

I'll have some oatmeal for breakfast, really fancy a big bowl of oatmeal with dates, walnuts and cinnamon.  Yum!!!

Right now I am:::
Sitting on my bed and writing up this post.  I have a documentary on the TV, called Britain's Slave Trade:  A message from our Ancestors.  It's quite interesting.

On my bedside table:::
Basket with tv remotes and my lotion, my phone, empty cup of coffee and some Kleenex.  I've been congested and sneezing this morning.  I don't know if it's my allergies or if I'm coming down with a cold.

On my reading pile:::
The Beginner's Guide to Winning and Election by Michael R. French.

Movies or Shows I watched this weekend:::
I've started catching up on the new season of Poldark.  Love it and am quite sad this is the last season.  As always, Star Trek The Next Generation, every night.  I also watched some of my favorite vlogs, all Brazilian, and a few documentaries on Youtube.

On my TV this week:::
Not much has changed from last week, I keep the same shows on unless I'm done watching one or a new one pops up.

TV:
General Hospital
Homemaking vlogs
Star Trek The Next Generation
Poldark
The Dead Files
Beecham House
High Seas
Jamestown - Season 2
Babylon Berlin
A.D. Kingdom and Empire
Anne with an E - Season 2
Charite
The Doctor Blake Mysteries
Kurt Seyit and Sura

Documentaries:
Britain in 1900
The Children who built Victorian Britain
Andrew Marr:  The making of modern Britain
The Century:  America's Time 1941-1945:  Homefront

On the menu for this week:::

Monday
Frango com Chourico no tacho (Chicken and Chourico Bake, Scalloped potatoes)

Tuesday
Croquetes de atum (Tuna Croquettes, Rice with Peas)

Wednesday
Bife a Cervejaria (Steaks Brewery Style, Homemade Fries)

Thursday
Spaghetti with Salad and Garlic Bread

On my to do list:::
Housework:::
Bedroom - Wash bedding and vacuum floors.
Kitchen - Unload and reload dishwasher, clean counters, sweep and mop.
Bathroom - Wipe down counters, give toilet a quick clean (basically upkeep as I gave the bathroom a good cleaning this weekend).  Sweep floor and mop.
Living rooms - Tidy up, put pillows back on couch and fold blankets.
Blog - Put up a blog post
Yard - Water all plants

What I am sewing, crocheting, knitting or creating:::
Just started Part 3 even though Part 4 is already released.  I can never keep up with the crochet alongs, because life gets in the way and I have other responsibilities ahead of crocheting.  Wish it was the other way around, but that's not how it goes.  I'm slowly getting through it though :)

Looking forward to:::
I'm sooooo excited.  My sweet girl bought me an Ancestry DNA Kit for me to do.  She knows that I'm very much interested in tracking down our ancestors and knowing where I came from, and so this was her way to helping me out.  I love her so much, she is a very sweet girl.  So, yes, I got the email notification that my kit is on the way and I can't wait.  Although, having to wait 8 weeks after that for the results is going to be tough LOL

Looking around the house:::
Kids were hanging out in the living room yesterday so it definitely needs some TLC.  The rest of the house just needs tidying up and picking up and it will be fine.

From the camera:::
Loveeeeee old books.  When I saw this one at the Antique store, for just $2, I had to grab it.

What I'm wearing today:::
Pajama shorts and a tshirt.  I did not sleep well last night and am super tired this morning.  Since I don't have to leave the house today, I want to be comfortable and that's how it's going to go.

Thinking about:::
The holidays coming up.  It seems that I'll have both my brothers visiting from South Africa and I'm so excited.  They won't be visiting at the same time.  My older brother is most likely coming for Thanksgiving again, like he did in 2015, and my younger brother and his family are coming for Christmas.  I can't wait.

Antiquing is one of our favorite things to do also. In fact we are headed off on a trip later this week to Montana where 3 of my favorite antique stores are. I always find such unique and interesting things in these particular stores. Just think FALL is only 34 days away. I pray your triple digits go away early this year and you get some relief from the heat as FALL approaches. I too am looking forward to the holidays this year. Have a GREAT week. BTW, you have no link up this week :D

The DNA kit will be so cool! I hope you'll share a little about what you find!! It's so fun to learn where you are from. Genealogy is definitely a hobby of mine. I haven't had much time lately to work on it, but I'm hoping to jump back in now that the kids are in school.
Your weather looks horrendous! Triple digits! I bet you can't wait for fall weather. I know I'm ready for soups, hot drinks, and fires in the fireplace.
Hope you are doing well. Have a wonderful week.

I forgot to ask - what is the title of the book and the author?

It's actually The Bobbsey Twins, I remember those books from my childhood :)

I am running behind, yet again. I hope you've had a wonderful week and that the ickiness didn't turn into a full fledge cold. I can't decide if I want an Ancestry DNA kit or not. I go back and forth on the matter.
