{ Homey Wednesday }

Hello friends, how are you all doing on this Wednesday evening?

I have had quite a slow day, did a little housework, a little bit of reorganizing in Jasmine's room and indulged in a bit of reading and some Tudors on Netflix.

Before I even get any further, what is it with teenagers and their bedrooms???

Is it that hard to keep it tidy and clean?  I swear it is like a bomb has gone off in there, the amount of clothes laying around, empty dishes and snacks and all sorts of things.  I actually shudder when I enter her bedroom, and the funniest or rather, strangest thing is that she is a germaphobe.

No, really, she drives me nuts.  She can't stand to have her hands dirty, she is always using hand sanitizer and anything remotely dirty makes her almost cry.  So, now you tell me, how she can be this way with everything but keep a messy room?

Honestly boggles my mind.

I did take a few photos of my day, I don't always grab the camera, and some days I don't touch it at all, but I do like snapping shots here and there for the blog.

Dishwasher

I have a review coming up on Friday for Young Living Essential Oils.  I am so excited to tell you about them and how I've been using them around my house.  The pic above is just a tiny glimpse at one of the places I use them.

Chinese

Last night, for our anniversary, we decided to grab some Chinese take out at one of our favorite places around here. I was craving it, but I have to say that I didn't really enjoy it this time, I don't know, it just wasn't as good as previous times we ordered there.

I did have some leftover fried rice for lunch, but I tell you I had about 5 bites, that is probably too much.

Homegrown Basil

I planted some Basil about two weeks ago, and just look how it's doing.  I do love Basil in the kitchen, I use it a lot in my cooking, but I also find it to be one of the easiest herbs to grow.

Library books

As I'm re-watching The Tudors on Netflix, I am also reading through my library pile. The Queen of Subtleties is so very good and I'm learning some facts that I didn't know about Anne Boleyn, which makes is even more exciting to watch the Tudors as I'm seeing things that I missed before.

Dining room window

My rose bushes are overgrown and I need to prune them. You can actually see how tall they've gotten outside my dining room window.

Menu Planning

Did some menu planning this morning, as I need to get groceries either this week or Saturday morning, most likely will end up being on Saturday.

I'm trying to do easy meals, and for that I've gone through old menu plans on my blog, and also pulled out this old church cookbook that my mother in law gave to me, many many years ago. I'm making her Hot and Spicy Lasagna, haven't had it for a very long time.

I'm also using my new Amish cookbook that hubby gifted me for our anniversary. Such good things in there, I can't wait to try.

Mushrooms

Stepped outside with the dogs and noticed quite a few mushrooms on the grass. I need to see if they're poisonous or not because I do not want my pugs eating these, and Miss Lola acts as if she is never fed. Seriously, she eats everything in her sight.

Trees

One thing I've been enjoying are the trees out in the backyard, I keep thinking that very soon we will be heading into Fall and will be left with not a single leaf on a branch, might as well enjoy their beauty now.

Sunshine through the leaves

Bella

Miss Bella enjoys barking at passing cars. She sees them through the tiny cracks in the fence and barks and barks. It is quite funny to see.

Money Tree

Lastly, I took this picture of my Chinese Money Tree, I've had it since Arizona and it is doing so well, it's growing immensely. I am thinking I need to move it to a bigger pot though because this one is getting too small, but I'm so scared that the minute I transplant it, it will die. What to do, what to do?

As you can see, it's been a quiet Wednesday, but I like days like these.

I really don't do well with craziness and too much noise, give me a quiet day at home and I'm happy.

I'm so excited, one of the books I was able to get from Paperbackswap using my credit, is a book I actually had many years ago and talked about at length here on my blog.  I don't know why I ever got rid of it or the others because they were truly my favorites at the time.

You're Late Again Lord:  The Impatient Woman's Guide to God's Timing by Karon Phillips Goodman.

I can't begin to tell you how much this book changed my life and how much it taught me about waiting and doing it with purpose.  I am so excited to be getting another one in the mail, I can hardly wait for it to arrive.

Well, I have some laundry needing folding, and need to get the dinner dishes in the dishwasher, so I'm ending this post here.  I am thinking I may watch some more Tudors tonight, I might even finish the whole series, we'll see how it goes.

I will see you all tomorrow for more Cooking Thursday.

That sounds like a book I need to read. I should pull out my church cookbooks my mom gave me. There are always great recipes in them. Our dog barks at the people walking by all the time. Once I started making our favorite Chinese take out at home the restaurant stuff wasn't as good. I look forward to your essential oil review. I love them. Andrew had a bad case of poison ivy recently. I used lavender and it stopped itching right away.

Have a blessed evening.
