{ Tea and old blog posts }

The rain continues, the cloudy grey skies are ever present, and I am finding myself feeling out of energy and just wanting to curl on the couch with a good book.

I've done most of the laundry for today, have just one load ready to go in the dryer, but other than that, I don't have any housework, which means I can just be lazy and relax.

It doesn't happen very often, but when these rare cloudy rainy days come around and I have nothing else to occupy myself with, I find myself surrounded by big pots of tea, books and documentaries on Youtube.

Tea

I do so enjoy a cup of English Breakfast tea, no matter what time of the day, it just hits the spot, but today especially it is really what I needed.

Tea

Speaking of which, I am again, in one of my crazy King Henry the VIII phases.  I go through these once in a while, and I can't help it because I find everything about his life absolutely fascinating.

Last night I watched a great documentary which I think you all might enjoy.  It is called "Inside the body of Henry VIII".  Oh my, I can't even imagine the pain this man must have been in on a daily basis, I guess in a way it might explain his impatient attitude and rudeness.

Waiting next in line to watch, is Henry VIII The Mind of a Tyrant. You can also watch that one on Youtube.

By the way, if you want to see my Watch Later List filled with documentaries along these lines, let me know, I will gladly share it with you.

Tomorrow I am going to return some of the library books and I have 5 on hold for me.  I'm sure by now you've guessed what they are all about...that's right, The Tudors, King Henry, his wives etc and so forth.  I get quite excited just thinking about the books and can't wait to read them.

Since I'm in this Tudor mood, I am thinking I need to watch the last season of The Tudors, which I never did get around to.

Can I just tell you that the strangest things is happening right now, it smells so strongly of cigarettes around my living room, and no one here smokes.  I like to think that it's my grandfather or uncle coming around to say hi.

Does that ever happen to you, a strange scent that you usually wouldn't have in your home?  I mean this cigarette smell is so strong.

Anyway, I've also been working on a stronger relationship with God.  I have these months where I fall completely off the wagon and tend to get busy with other stuff and not have enough time for Him.  It is also around this time that things happen to throw me off kilter, that I find myself worrying more, that I see things not running as smoothly, and that I start missing His presence in my life.

So, back at it....old devotionals have come out, Bible is back right at my side to be read every night before bed and I am making a conscious effort to devote time to what matters.

Devotionals

This is one of my favorites, 31 Days toward Intimacy with God by Joni Eareckson Tada.  Read it many many years ago, but going to restart it today.

I really envy the relationship I had with God when I first started blogging and I believe it is why I was able to go through so many things without falling completely apart.

Truth is, I didn't have as many outside distractions as I do now, I think as we evolve technologically, we are just pulled more and more into a highly competitive society that is fueled by so many outside influences and less intimate time with ourselves, family and friends.  Just my opinion, of course.

For lunch we had some of my Homemade French Bread Pizzas.   For dinner I will be making a chicken stew and some garlic and cheese biscuits.

Hubby - he will probably re-watch one of his movies.  I sometimes laugh because he will watch the same movie over and over, and I can't do that, it would drive me insane.

Me - Henry VIII The Mind of a Tyrant, Kings and Queens of England, catching up on DVR.

Laundry - one last load in the dryer, once it's out I just have to fold and put away

I am loving tea so much right now I devoted a whole baker's rack to tea stuff (and some pottery!) at this house (think you saw the pics) ...
I too love Joni E. Tada. An aquaintence of mine has been paralyzed a few years now - and she goes to a family camp with Joni EVERY year! This year she was even a featured speaker there - invited by Joni! What an honor!

Rainy days can be wonderful especially with good books and tea.

We enjoyed watching the entire Tudors series. I will make note of the video you suggested today, and catch it at home. We can get YouTube on our TV, which makes it nice. I am happy to have found your blog!
