I'm tired!

I wish it was bedtime, but I still have a couple hours to go since it's only noon here. *sigh*

Jasmine was up all night with a cough and a congested nose, I'm already seeing the cold coming again. Seriously, how many colds does a person have to go through during this crazy weather??? You know how it's always really hot here in Arizona? Well now every morning it's COLD, I mean, not snowy ice cold but enough to make you see your breath in front of your face, then within 2 or 3 hours it's HOT, really hot, hot where you wear short sleeves and sometimes shorts. Not good for the body I tell you.

Anyway, I dragged myself out of bed this morning and fixed waffles for everyone, then headed out to the commissary for groceries.

No matter how hard I try and even cutting back on some things and going for the cheapest on others, I just can't get out of spending $250 for two weeks of groceries. Just can't! It's even weirder because there were times in Idaho where I remember the money being really tight, you know the "living from pay check to pay check" kinda thing??? We've all been there!
I would pay the bills and end up with about $150 for groceries and I made do, and it worked. Now?!?!?!? I don't know, can't do it.
Though I have noticed though that things here in Arizona are a lot more expensive than Idaho.

Before leaving for my errands this morning, I took some pictures of the sky, it was just gorgeous and I love how the rising sun leaves this beautiful pinkish hue on the clouds.

One great thing about being a military family is that you soon learn to cut your own hair, well the boys at least. So it's typical for a military family to buy a set of hair clippers very early on.......in this house, unless you're a girl, your hair WILL get cut in the bathroom. LOL

So here's Nicholas haircut, his was just getting so long and it honestly looked like he had a bowl underneath his hair, that's how tall and weird it was looking. After getting it cut by Curt last night, he looked back at the mirror and said "Wow daddy, I look really cute" to which daddy replied "Yes, son, you really do" LOL

And this one I just had to show you. He has stunning big eyes with these HUGE eyelashes, it reminds me a lot of my Great Grandfather Eduardo, the same eyes. So this ones is for my family in South Africa to see.

This one is just funny, I was sitting here trying to blog and Nicholas called me and snapped the picture. LOL Be nice people because I HATE having my picture taken and can find tons of wrong things with me.

The Superbowl is upon us and you won't believe the craziness around here. The Cardinal Stadium is about 5 minutes down the road from us, I've actually showed you pictures before that we took. It's just pandemonium now, but we're trying to get near it tomorrow to get some pictures, also on base we will have Jason Bell and Ray Crockett signing autographs and taking photos so we're heading to the BX tomorrow for that. Can't wait :)

I got my Christy movies from Netflix yesterday. A New Beginning and A Change of Season and I have already watched one LOL AND I finished the actual book and loved it, it was soooooo good.

Next on my list from Netflix is the Series "Tales from Avonlea" followed by "The Road to Avonlea" which is a pretty big series actually, it will take me a while to get through those LOL

Well I better get going, I need to check the bank and pay some bills and all that fun Pay Day stuff. Have a great friday everyone!

Good Afternoon Sandra,
Wow, $150.00 is alot of money for groceries. There are 4 of us, but mostly 3 when my DH is out on the road and I spend about $75.00 to $85.00 on groceries about every 2 weeks. No, I'm not starving anyone. I just buy things where we can have leftovers to eat on a couple of days and that does the trick for me. Then, sometimes we just have sandwiches. I don't make something new every night. We get 2 Sales Papers in our local Paper each week from 2 different stores, and I usually go get groceries where the store with the best sale is and buy groceries. Then, sometimes my Parents buys us food and brings to us, and that helps out alot. Especially here lately. I do hope that Jasmine doesn't get too sick. Sometimes those colds don't really go away. The weather doesn't help matters either. We have always lived paycheck to paycheck. I wouldn't know how to live otherwise. Hopefully we can get caught up on things by the end of this month and will be able to save some money. The pictures of the Sky you took are breathtaking. I think it's so amazing how the pinkish color comes thru the clouds like that. GOD'S beauty is so AWESOME. "THANK YOU" for sharing some beautiful pictures with us. Nicholas looks so cute with his new haircut. My DH used to shave his head, but long time ago before I ever knew him and in his younger days, he had long hair. I told him sometime last year I wanted him to grow long hair for me. He is actually doing it. It' just long enough now for a small ponytail. I think it makes him look so sexy. Oooops, sorry about that. LOL. Nicholos' eyes are beautiful. It reminds me of our youngest daughter's eyes. She has always had the biggest and prettiest BIG brown eyes with think eyelashes. She gets her brown eyes from me. Well, Sandra, you are a very beautiful woman. I hate having my picture taken as well. I'm just not picture material like some people are. I notice you have brown eyes also. How cool that yall will get to see Jason Bell and Ray Crockett tomorrow. I do hope you get their autographs and then share them with us. Maybe they will let you have a picture made with them. I had my picture made a long time ago with Bill Clinton. It was when he was a bit younger and he was Govenor of Arkansas. Since the Monica scandal, I laugh and joke around about me going to the tabloids and bringing up something about me and Bill. LOL. Just kidding there. I would never stoop that low. I've done been to the bank and paid some bills, but DH called me a bit ago and needs me to go get him some money for next week. So now I have to make another trip to the bank. Take care my friend and have a great day and weekend. May God Bless You and Yours.

Love & Hugs,
Karen H.

Hi Sandra, I spend about £40-60 a week on groceries; that's $80-$120. But stuff in the UK is quite a lot dearer than the US, it's about $8 a USgallon of 'gas' here - can't afford to drive!! Lol.

Nicholas is so cute, he has such gorgeous eyes. And you look beautiful in your picture because you are!

This might make you feel better. We are trying to lower our grocery budget to $270 a WEEK !!! Yep ... a WEEK !!! I don't know why we spend that much. We are a family of four. I shop ONCE A WEEK after careful planning of menus ! I don't buy much processed stuff. Very infrequently buy junk food. So ... there's not a lot of extras to cut out. We eat very little meat too which is expensive here. We eat fish ( cheap since we live on the coast line ! ), lots of fresh fruit and veg ... maybe that is why it's expensive. I don't know !! But I'd love to be spending $250 every TWO weeks !!

Love the photos of Nicholas and the one of you ! It's nice to see the face behind this great blog ! My 4 year old daughter is sitting here beside me and she said "I love that shirt" ( that you are wearing in the photo ) and I said "oh, do you ?" and she replied "Yeah, I love beautiful shirts."

I have a hard time cutting back on groceries. No matter what I do, I seem to still end up spending the same.
I cut my kids hair too. I think I do just as well as some barbers.
Have a good weekend.

When I was in high school, I often was the one to go to the grocery store. My dad would give me $30 and I usually had no problem buying only that much stuff. I now spend a lot more even with sales and coupons and everything.

I think the photo of you is lovely, Sandra.

And I have one simple suggestion because it truly helped me when I was your age and constantly either sick myself or dealing with sick children.

Multi-vitamins. For everyone! Believe it or not, it helps.

Ok first I have to say that you are absolutely beautiful!!! Seriously - love the pix, you are a knockout.
Our son's get their hair cut the same way...but we let it grow in the winter cos it's so cold here. He has the prettiest eyes! My twins are funny, they are girl/boy & Eli has super long lashes & long slender fingers. Poor Adah will hate him when they get older cos she has short lashes & short stubby fingers like her daddy, poor girl LOL!
Your sky pix are awesome too.
Have a great day!
